EC's for Colleges

whats the importance of EC?
as of this moment.

i have the following EC's

4 years of Marching Band [1year Librarian]
2 years of Student Council [1year VP]
2 years of National Honors Society [1year President]
Senior Class Vice President
Newspaper [2years]
Yearbook [2years]
Toy Challenge [1st place @ National]

will getting more help me chances?
is quality better than quantity, or is it the other way around?

Quality is better than quantity.

Extracurricular activities are important for the following reasons:
- shows that you don't just sit home all day and study and watch TV and eat and go to sleep
- shows that you have character
- helps colleges know more about you

Librarian in the Marching Band? What's that? Just curious.

The point is, colleges want to accept studies who are interesting and have character. And they want students who will be involved in the campus social life and who will make the college more lively. So it's better to show deep involvement in a few activities (and by a few I mean like 2-3, not 10) rather than a scattering of a bunch of activities (1 year of this, 1 year of this, 1 year of this). So getting more won't really help you (they only have space for around 6 extracurricular activities), but showing a deep involvement helps. Try not to 'pose' for admissions people. If you honestly love what you're doing, you wouldn't people to motivate you. Just do what you love to do and continue at it.
