Yes and yes.

What are you interested in? Don't join those clubs just to join, join because you really want to :D.

Yes, Yes :)

I run two organizations and work 20-40 hrs/week for a political campaign

You can always make your own :)

well, i love all the ec's im in...
and im thinking about starting a business, or at least try to with some of my friends because wharton is my goal....
and to make your own organization, what does it take?
about how many hours, would you say a week?

Speech and debate, Robotics, Model Congress, Frisbee team

and 40 hours of volunteering per semester

What kind of organization do you want to do?

I helped start a nonprofit girls basketball league in a poor Detroit neighborhood, PM me if you want some help or more details.

football, wrestling, and track. I love sports and its basically impossible to be in a sport and a club at teh same time in my school. I think ill really need to find some clubs out of school or something because im not good enough in my sports to get recruited( well i might for a DIII or DII school, but i wouldnt want to play unless it was DI) and i dont think 3 varsity sports are enough for some colleges for ec's.

^^me?

If you're asking me, my organizations are already set, but thanks ;)

^ Haha, no the OP.

Delegate for Futures Committee

I have a job and I tutor kids after school.
I'm also working on a community service project that I hope will increase self-esteem in adolescent girls in my town.

I NEED to stay busy. You see, if I have time to think, I'll absolutely go insane. It sounds a bit absurd, but it's trueeeee.

Playing an instrument can be considered an ec, as long as it doesn't take up a block during your school day. Join marching band; that'll count.

Martial Arts is so cool! It's something you do outside of school, so it'd be even better. Dooooo it.

I don't have a billllllion EC's but they're all things I like to do.
Piano for 11 years, a few years with private lessons
softball for 7 years
tennis a few years idk lol
NHS - I know that sounds super lame, but our NHS is amazing and we do TONS of charity fundraising and work and volunteering, etc -
Beta Club - for more volunteering
I tutor math a few hours a week for volunteering
I work like.. 5 hours a week [lol, I work for a tutoring agency, so there's not much to do]
I work on learning Arabic a few hours a week [dunno if this counts.. it's outside of school and on my own though]
my school's Ping Pong Coalition :]
viola - in the school's Philharmonic Orchestra and in the county's honor orchestra
FCA
YoungLife

WOW, you guys do a lot! How do you plan on fitting that all into your application? Aren't there only like 6 spots?

As for me, I'm working on my own guitar album with a few friends of mine and my guitar teacher, along with preparing for some guitar competitions and shows with an ensemble.
I also volunteer at a hospital in NYC that has a huge program on the neurological function of music and getting patients to partake in musical therapy. It's awesome.
I work under a few professors from Yale university and assist them with their own research while conducting my own as well. I guess its like a full-year internship.
Besides that...erm, not much. I'm going to try to get more involved with school-related ECs this year (besides the Guitar Players club of course). I'm thinking School Newspaper, Leo Club, Spanish Club, and possibly Mu Alpha Theta?

^ MegaVortex, make sure you only get involved with the school ones if you're actually interested in them. Colleges can tell if you're just joining up to look good, lol.

MegaVortex7: that musical therapy at the hospital where you work sounds really exciting.

Mu Alpha Theta is the math honor society at my school. We basically have inter-school competitions, take math league tests, and tutor for community service. Plus, we have a wicked math week and pie day. I <3 math!

Well, I did the school paper last year and it was alright. It wasn't anything special, but I still think that I'm gonna continue with it. Spanish Club I'm only joining because my honors Spanish teacher is the adviser and she was amazing. Mu Alpha Theta is just starting up so I might as well give it a shot, but yeah Leo Club would be primarily for resume padding purposes, lol. Eh, might as well give it a shot as well (its not like I NEED any more volunteer hours).

What is Leo Club?

Varsity baseball and basketball

I would join the school newspaper, but it's really, really poor quality and no one really reads it.

I run cross country in the summer and fall (20+ hrs/wk), and I do debate in the winter/spring (25+ hrs/wk). Those are my main ones. I also do art club, quiz bowl, student congress, and model UN, but those aren't particularly demanding, nor am I particularly committed to them.

French Club
Scholars
International Club (joining this year)
NHS (if I get in)
