ED acceptances lowered by 10%

I heard that UVA reduced the amount of ED acceptances by some 10% this year. I was wondering if this was true or not. Thanks.

This is funny because someone has told me the same thing. If this is true, then they may accept more RD applicants.

Early decision appeptances were slighly higher than last year.

http://www.virginia.edu/topnews/releases2004/admission-dec-13-2004.html

Thanks meredesfilles. This clears up everything. I think I was just hearing a rumor. So, acceptance under ED increased this year. This could mean that RD acceptances may decrease.

Hey, I appreciate this. I too was hearing one of the many rumors of ED, thank you.

just wondering, how many deferees are then accepted under RD? most likely, in april if one is deferred, are they sent a waitlisted letter?

one more question..

iloveuva, I doubt that anyone has these statistics. I can tell you anecdotally that out of about 15 people I know who were defered, only 1 got in. Most were waitlisted and a couple rejected.

There were 2029 students waitlist and only 150 accepted, For most students Waitlisted means rejected. (theres a slim chance)

btw, Form my school 12 ppl got in to UVA ED

only 3 got in from my school (in state)

on the uva stats site, it says.... person accepting waitlist... why would anyone reject waitlist? is it binding? any other provisions?

Someone might say that they don't want to be kept on the waitlist because they've decided to go to another school. Being on the waitlist is not binding.

waitlist includes deferrees from ED and people on the borderline from RD right?

where did u get that stat from JM1ONE ... i didnt see that particular stat on uva facts

"waitlist includes deferrees from ED"
Just to clarify there are some people who are deferred ED and are accepted RD and some are rejected...being deferred ED doesn't automatically mean you are waitlisted

ok. sorry to pi** of everyone again... anyone know some general stats of person who were waitlisted and then got in? also, when do they inform u if you got in after waitlisted

I don't really know any stats but if you are on the waitlist you probably wouldn't be notified if you got in until at least May 15

"where did u get that stat from JM1ONE ... i didnt see that particular stat on uva facts?"

I got that stat from a book called
"the unofficial biased guide to the 328 most interesting colleges" by Trent Anderson and Seppy Basili

Good book, gives ton of info for these top 328 schoolsn not only stats but also information about "inside the classroom", "campus environment", and "student life"
