ED Acceptees: Is Anyone Deferring To Take A Gap Year?

All right, so you're one of the lucky CCers who got into Cornell ED, it's your dream school and LOLZOMG you're so excited, yadda yadda yadda. NOW: out of curiosity, are any of you considering (or definitely sure you will take) a gap year? I'm just curious because I'll be deferring enrollment to work with Americorps for a year (providing I get hired), and I haven't seen anyone else mention the possibility of a gap year.

The word defer is evil.
Just wanted to put that out there :P

I’m deferring my decision to the RD round. I mean, my decision was deferred to the RD round. But who uses passive voice nowadays anyway.

I’m so fricken fed up with school I’d almost be half assed to take a job for a year working on a dive boat off on the barrier reef (good friend did this and refered me to a captain who offered to take me on, I hold a ton of scuba certs though). Then again I’d first have to get into cornell, like chandler I was defered ED too.

As long as you’re devoted enough to make sure you come back to school in the Fall, I would highly advise this. One of my friends took a year off to travel and work at schools in Thailand, Ghana, and Costa Rica teaching English to underprivileged children. Unfortunately, her family is one of very few who have enough money to fund a really nice year off like this. Anyway, she said that taking a year off was the best possible thing she could have done. She focuses easier on her studies because she hasn’t been in school for the past 13 years straight. Also, she got a better understanding of what she wants to do because she had some time to think about it. I’m a Freshman at Cornell now and I wish I had taken a year off because already I’m sick of school and I have at least 3.5 years to go =[
