ED applicants, what's your second choice?

dw51688 - well either way, thanks for your imput. i've only gotten to visit a few school just because i live so far from all the places i am applying to and my parents did not think it necessary to visit many schools. and so because of that, i have had to go on college's websites to get a feel of each school. but even doing that doesn't always help because i always get the college's biased view of why i should appy there. i may apply there RD but i know their education is up to par with what i want to study. i just want to go somewhere where not only can i get a good education, but also a "happy-to-be-there" feeling...if that makes any sense lol

wombat: heres my view of Tufts...

Beautiful campus set in suburban New England. Very pretty New England style architecture. The kids that go there are very laid back and friendly. It is a place where you can easily party thursday friday and saturday but also would not be out of place going out to a movie or just hanging out with a group of friends in the dorm. Accessing Boston is a cinch and a great feature of Tufts. Beautiful suburban campus with 15 minute trip to Boston via the "T". The education you will receive there is top notch. Classes are small and professors get to know you personally. Tufts really does have the feel of a small liberal arts college with many if not all of the features of a large research university. Its a very socially active campus. Lots of community service and political awareness.

hope that helps!

PhishPhry - Thanks for the imput as well!! are you currently a student or a prospective student of Tufts? It seem appealing to me that Boston is acessible from Tufts and that hightens some excitement of Tuft's atmosphere. But the thing is, I don't want the city to be where people at the university go to have fun. Yes they can go see movies, eat out, shop, etc in the Boston city, but I also want a communal feeling within the campus as well. With Boston right outside there are many opportunities to explore, but within the campus is where I also want to meet other people

:( too bad the Tufts board can be sometimes dead at times lol :(

I am a prospective student, wombat. My understanding is that Boston is not an every week thing for most students. Davis Square which is about a 10 minute walk is the main hangout area. From what I hear, Davis Square is an awesome place in itself (Movie theater, bars, coffee shops, etc.) Cambridge is 1 T stop away for a change of scenery. Then theres the endless opportunities of Boston. Imagine the possibilities: "Wanna go out to lunch??" "Sure, lets go to Quincy Markey in Faneuil Hall for some clam chowder" You're there and back in less than an hour.

PhishPhry, oh see that's what appeals me! i just always wonder about the people that really do dislike Tufts, and can never figure it out why. Most of them say it is because of the people on campus and others say just because of the campus itself. i don't know though! I'm so confused!!! lol...are you applying RD or ED II for Tufts?

cornell, wustl

ED I baby!!!! Clearly I love the place. When I visited I just felt so comfortable.

haha wombat.. also because i used to go to states at tufts (for science olympiad) every year.. but thats just a small part..

i mean i love my hometown.. who am i kidding.. boston rocks.. its just .. id like to go somewhere else for college which is why the entire 'tufts is so close to boston' thing doesnt appeal to me all that much (in fact.. it makes me not want to go even more)..

davis sq. is absolutely great and boston is incredible.. its just .. i go to davis sq. / harvard sq. / kendall sq. / copley / faneuil hall / fenway / cambridge all those places like every week.. so its just a bit too familiar.. know wat i mean?

PhishPhry - oh really?!! see, that for some reason just bosted my desire to go there. do you know if there is a form 1A that i need to send in before the application? i've written my essays already, just need to start reading the application itself and fill out the form, lol.
well good luck to you for ED! when do you find out?

dw - haha, they had states at tufts? thats bad-ass! lol must feel nice each year to go there lol. well maybe you'lve just been to Tufts like WAY too many times lol so yeah, i guess i can understand where you're comming from. i bet i would probably be in that same position too now that i think about it. lol

They say we find out on the 15th. Thanks for the well wishes! Im dying here. Just a few more days.

First you fill out the suplemental form on the tufts admissions site. then send in the common app. then for ED you send in the ED declaration form (if youre ED II). Those are all of the major parts

I don't really have a clear-cut second-choice...but I'd be very happy at Princeton, Stanford, Dartmouth or Chicago.

Duuuke...but I really don't have the motivation to fill out other applications yet

WUStL
Bucknell
Rice
Lafayette
Univ of Miami
RIT

not rochester?

top choices:

stanford

cornell

others:

anyway, has anyone started filling out those RD applications? If I don't get in, I'll be spending the next 10 or so days just pumping out those apps.

i've started...but i'm not really anywhere with it

i did all of nyu except the short answer about "last sunday". i finished most of brown except some dates, i think. i have to do some cornell short answers and i have to do the "why swarthmore" question, too. harvard's done. i spent all of last week doing all of that.......talk about boring

yep, rochester institute of technology!

and yes I already did all my RD applications (Common App) because I know that when/if I get deferred or rejected I won't be in the mood to start them at all...

columbia/northwestern
