ED at NYU?? Please Help!

<p>Hi, can you guys please give me some much-needed advice?
NYU has been my #1 choice for a while, and I was wondering if ED is the way to go. The thing is, I'm probably gonna need a ton of financial aid. Should I just apply Regular Decision and then compare NYU's aid package to that of other colleges? Or do the benefits of ED (more people admitted, more potential finAid money) outweigh the whole comparing packages thing?</p>

Middle class
Suburban MI
Moldovian Immigrant
GPA: 4.1w/4.0uw
Rank: Tied for 1st out of 350 at an o.k. public school
ACT: 30
SAT IIs: Literature-680; US History-650
APs: US Gov-5; Psych-5; English Lang-4
(Am planning to take 3 more APs Senior year)</p>

<p>Extracurriculars:
Art Club President (2yrs)
JV Tennis (3yrs) Co-Captain (2ys) '06 MVP
Big Sisters Club (2yrs) Secretary (1 yr)
Inducted into NHS and going to be Secretary
Crochet Club
French Club
JV Soccer</p>

<p>Have some Volunteer experience
Work Part-Time (20-25 hrs/week) since January
Attended a LeadAmerica Conference (does that increase my chances in any way?)</p>

<p>Do I have a chance at getting in ED, and if so, should I do it??</p>

<p>Don't ED NYU. They are know for exceptionally bad aid. They do not guarantee to meet need. This means that you will be promising to apply to a school you can't afford. NYU packages will usually be far worse than those of schools that meet need. </p>

<p>Even applying RD be aware that if you need a lot of aid you're unlikely to get it from NYU without huge loans.</p>

<p>You are competitive for RD, so I wouldn't apply ED since you need merit money.</p>

<p>Your chances are very good at CAS. Although I'll second whoever said don't ED to NYU - they're 100% right. They give the crappiest aid imaginable (like, none at all) to ED applicants. If you apply RD and get into the scholars program you get decent aid though...</p>
