Hey guys, I submitted my ED application to SCS and am freaking out. What do you guys think my chances are?

I am a hispanic male

SAT: 800 M, 650 R, 600 W - 2050 total
ACT: 31 composite
GPA: 3.4 / 4 unweighted - could be better, but my school is extremly rough. Rated in the top 50 public and private high schools (as a public school)

EC:
-Assistant teacher to the introduction to computer science class at my high school, as an independent study for credit.
-Varsity Football

Does it help to have an interview at CMU? Cause I had one and I think it went amazing.

My computer science teacher also wrote me an amazing recomendation, he is a CMU graduate with two masters in computer science (from CMU)

Your stats indicate that you are in the bottom 25% of applicants for SCS. However, no offense but by going to the SBW I found out that being a URM REALLY helps because not enough URM’s apply to meet their desired demand.

Being a URM? What exactly does that mean? Anyone else have any other comments? I am freaking out over here!

Also forgot to add, I am part of the National Hispanic Honor Society, and have had some ~100 hours of various overseas voulenteer work at an orphanage in Cambodia. I also cant stress how important my school’s prestige is. Grade inflation is completely non existant, our valedictorian has a 3.9 GPA. It is common belief that a 3.5 from my school is comparable to a 3.8 or 3.9 at almost any other school.

URM= Under represented minority

I’m sure you will do fine
