[ED] Chances for CAS with decent GPA but weak SAT

Hey everybody! I'm a student from Vancouver, Canada doing a full load of IB work. But I scored poorly on the SAT :( Do you guys think I can get into CAS in ED?

Female
White/Caucasian
17
Blonde

GPA: 92.9% unweighted, weighted I don't know but I'm doing IB.
SAT I superscore: 1970 (CR 660, W 620, M 690) I know, terrible!
SAT II: Haven't taken them yet- taking 3 in Nov 1.

Predicted IB Marks: 42/45

Taking currently:
Higher Level English
Standard Level Spanish
Higher Level Math
Higher Level Chemistry
Higher Level Biology
Standard Level Geography
International Business (non-IB)

GPA has steadily risen by 0.5 - 1% from freshmen to junior year.

Extra-curriculars:

Do I even have a chance at CAS? I want to go into medicine later on. Please help!!!

Are you at Churchill? I am from Richmond High. I think you should retake SAT because my SAT is higher than yours. LOL

Just kidding.

I think you have a decent shot. As a person in the Diploma program, I think a 42/45 will get you extremely prepared anywhere you go.

But I need to take my subject tests on Nov 1, since its the last date possible in time for ED, I can't take SAT I's again.

I think I can get 2 subjects in the 700's.

I think it's worth a try. For the math part, if you can prove your math knowledge in SAT II Math IIC you're fine. Screw Reasoning math.

Do you think I should mention that the reason I scored so poorly on the SAT I's was because it coincided with my menstrual cycle and I was suffering from cramps?

... O.o... I am not a girl, but I think that a lot of girls can use that for excuse... And the day before the SAT I actually had swimming practice and pulled my muscle (bad warm-up & stretching).

I know 42 is an amazing predicted grade but what would be a competitive one? I have no clue how universities view IB predicted grades.

I don't think it's a good idea to say that's why you didn't perform as well on the SAT I. A lot of people make excuses for their performances (and as a girl I completely sympathize with you), but I feel like colleges have heard all of this before and might find excuse-making a bit desperate.

For predicted grades 38+ would be decent, and 40+ would be quite competitive already, even in the Ivy League or in other selective universities.

try the ACT -- it might fit you better, and it offers a December test date.
