Bump a

bump a

my first curiosity is, why did you list blonde? not exactly an ethnic group...

OK so you have taken a very very challenging courseload... with 4 HLs, that too being eng math and two sciences! how do you put up with those annoying lab reports! anyways, you have a good predicted too (by the way, how much predicted for tok/ee? i have heard the unis dont care THAT much about those 3 points in the US). As long as your school doesnt have a history of predicted inflation (as mine now has), you can make a good impression academic wise to the unis.

Your ECs are mediocre (I know this hurts to hear, I have heard it waay to many times). Mediocre in comparison to most people who enrol in cornell. much of it seems part of your regular CAS activities. no positions of leadership either. that may hurt you a bit, but too late about that I guess.sports is very very ok too. the logo thing sounds positively shady: most logo designing involves max spending 1-2 hours on photoshop.

So, excluding the sat, you have a very iffy chance for acceptance. taking the sat in consideration, you have a problem. you are lucky that cornell is need blind for canadians, as if you were intl, finaid could REALLY have been a problem. How did you manage to score so less in the sats? I woulda assumed, seeing your predicteds and HLs, that you have mastery in at least english or math, if not both. Well, you can try to recoup that through your sat2 (by the way, which 3: cause you could give math 1, math 2, lit, chem and bio).

So i think that you should go ahead and give it a shot. If you have good recos and compelling essays, you have as good a chance as many others. but be aware that acceptance rate in cornell is low, even in ED, so be prepared with alternatives for RD(there are so many in canada itself, i believe, like mcgill and toronto). many other colleges in the us have hgher acceptance rates and good medicine programs.

By the way, I have a similar predicament to your. I have better sat scores (2320 sat 1, 800 in lit, math2 and chem) but horrible ib grades (eng hl-6, bm hl- 6, math hl-5groan, eco hl-7, chem sl-7, hindi-sl-7, extra point- JUST 1!!) and very mediocre ECs (good amt of comm service, business experience, but ver little participation in leadership, inter-school events or sport). Luckily I took a gap year in which i gained a lot of experience, so lets see how that works out. anyways, best of luck!

Your 1350 is only 45 points below their average SAT.
Your chances aren't too bad for ED.
Good luck, :)

A senior from my school (I am an international) made it to Cornell with almost similar stats (slightly worse). So good luck.
Chance your fellow IB-er!

Hm... I'd call it a low to medium reach. However, the SAT scores are pretty low compared to the rest of your info, so it's hard to tell. :/

bump a

Yeah you're probably good. The SAT's aren't the best, but the three varsities make up for it. Good luck!
Oh and chance me:
