ED class of 2022 discussion

super nervous as well. Anyway hope for the best.

Nothing on WashU FB or Twitter feeds yet.

Yes, good luck everyone!!!

I just called admissions at Wash U, and the lady said that the decisions would be announced by the end of the day on Friday. I asked her if it were possible that they could be announced today. She said that that is possible. IMHO, there is no way that they don’t know when the decisions will come out now. I think they do this to create more hype around Wash U admissions. I do not think this big mystery they create is in the best interests of students. To me it seems intentional. Am I just an admissions cynic? All other colleges give a date. Either they are disorganized or purposeful in the suspense they hope to create.

@DukeShama if thats their strategy its rather disappointing and in my mind unprofessional

I’m a fan of this approach: 1. “By Dec. 15th”; 2. Email 2 days before decisions are announced saying “Hey guys, decisions are coming in 2 days on blah blah date. You will get an email with specifics then.”; 3. Email saying decision is on the portal and you should check now.

That way they can have their full time up to Dec. 15th, and we’ll know that a message is coming to let us know to get ready. If we know this is the approach ahead of time, there really is nothing to get worked up about other than the decision itself!

I know they have said by Dec. 15th from the very beginning, but with at least 2 people getting solid word via GCs from the Wash U Admissions Dept. that they are coming on Thurs., today, I will be super bummed out if they come on Friday.

@DukeShama I think you are an admissions cynic. Nothing is gained by WashU being intentionally vague. I believe they do not want to commit to posting a date because that creates a tighter obligation they have to fulfill. They told us by 12/15 they would report and they will. Asking for more certainty is anyone’s right but a school is not required to provide it and should not be insulted for not doing so. Just my opinion.

Good luck all.

I agree. I don’t particularly like waiting like this lol. I also applied to Chapel Hill (In-state), in which the Early Action was due October 15th. We don’t get decisions until January 30th. So I guess it could be worse… But still.

That’s crazy!! Was she being evasive? What was your gut based on conversation? I really don’t understand not being open about it at this point to tell you the truth

so tomorrow?? i haven’t slept well since last Thursday

I Agree 100 percent they have no obligation to say in advance but at this point it does seem a little odd to be vague about a question upfront if they’re going to release it tonight or not

@busymd She was as nice as could be. It was like she was jolly almost. She was welcoming and sweet.

I imagine WashU has told its employees not to provide guidance to people who ask about when decisions will be posted because they have not committed to a certain date and do not want want a bunch of their employees giving out inconsistent information to people who randomly ask. I bet they probably know when they intend to release decisions but why bother releasing a release date when you can just release the decisions themselves. I am as anxious as everyone else - I just don’t think the school is treating us poorly by not providing any better information than it already has provided. By 5:05 tomorrow at the latest this will all be over and hopefully we will all be celebrating!

The dean of Olin told students that decisions would be posted by the end of today

Thanks @jniccollege for some extremely useful info…

And today is the first day of finals at WashU so everything should already have been reviewed and decisions made.

@Hamurtle Do you think that indicates a 12:00-1:00 CST release as opposed to a 4:00-5:00 CST release?

Wishing everyone the best of luck today. You are all smart and capable! Don’t doubt it.

I wouldn’t want to speculate at this point when decisions will be announced. Just wishing everybody good luck and try not to stress out.
