Does Penn defer any early decision applicants? I've heard of a few schools who only reject or accept. If they do, does anyone know if they defer a large percent and how many of those deferred applicants actually get in? I couldn't imagine waking up on Dec 12th thinking I'm going to know, only to find out that i need to wait 4 more months!!!

Penn does defer, i think it’s like 30% or something.

What percent of ppl who are deferred get accepted RD?

According to the 2012 stats, around 10%.

My daughter was deferred last fall, and she was devastated. (It was almost like a rejection!) She had fantastic grades and extracurriculars and a very good – but not great – SAT score. So she decided to take the SAT again (along with an SAT class) and brought her score way up. She also wrote a very nice letter to the regional admissions director reiterating her desire to attend Penn. She ended up getting accepted and is an extremely happy Quaker. But I must say, that those four months after the deferral were extremely stressful.
