ED Deferred Acceptance Percentage?

^^It's not dumb. Hope it works for you.

I would still definitely go to Princeton, though mainly for no loans and the option of earing a B.A. in music which my other top choice doesn't offer.

I'm much more realistic about the college application process, now. I guess it's a good thing. But I'm still bummed.

I did update my application with a letter and I got all A's my first semester of senior year at the high school, so that's all good.

I'm pretty sure princeton's deferred admit rate isn't 14%.... If anythign it should be around 5% or less because princeton only reject around a hundred ED, so a deferral doesn't really mean much

^^...except two things.
1) ED candidates are generally "cream of the crop" type of applicants, who are serious about their application, and tend to have better credentials than the average applicant who applies to Princeton "just for the heck of it"
2) ED candidates, by virtue of being Early Decision, have committed to Princeton, which make them far more likely to actually matriculate, and are thus less of a risk. While many deferral releases you from your ED commitment, generally people who had applied ED to Princeton had Princeton as their first choice by far, and are less likely to change.

yeah i was disappointed but definitely not mad at princeton... i was more mad at this student at my school who was accepted early because i was convinced that if she hadn't gotten accepted, i would've been accepted :) i know, i have very flawed logic

I was rescently told by my councilor that 'Pton accepted a higher number of minority students this year from the ED pool then usual. Doesn't this fact (if it is a fact) work well for defered students? I would assume that P'ton wants to get over with all the minority requirments so that they dunt need to keep that in mind when looking at the regular applicants.

Add to this the fact that deffered students will most likely attend if given a place...

o well... just trying to be optimistic =P

(i was defered=/ )

Princeton is still my first choice, but i think i have become a little more open-minded since I was deferred. I would be happy anywhere.

That said, the Princeton CC forum rules over all others!!!!!!!!!!!

i concur, Ernie :)

Phillibuster- I agree with what you're saying...kind of. At the same time, minority applicants generally don't apply ED because of financial concerns or a lack of instruction from the guidance departments at their schools or their parents. That's a generalization and probably a mildly faulty one, but I'm a minority applicant and I don't think that I'm being offensive to...myself, so I'm sorry if I'm offending anyone. Anyway, I think that Princeton will still look at minority applicants in the RD pool too, becuase they can't just "fill their quota" up with ED kids and then discard the rest. It does make sense though, that having more minority applicants accepted than usual in the ED round might make it easier to be accepted ED after deferral.

And Ernie, as usual, is absolutely right. ;)
