ED/ED2 acceptees for 2010

lol.. greetings vdgreat... and congratz... we'll meet u soon... sorry didn reply earlier..
btw... i m a bit worried abt the costs... even though i like my fin aid plan.. according to the current plan/estimate i need 2 pay around 3040 dollars... excludin the loan which i ain fussed abt yet... but then i hear of these hidden costs... u knw laundry costs and miscellaneous... wonder how much that will take....

Ya well irrationale.....there are always hidden cost in any college you apply. You cant really expect 3040$ to pay you everything. You have to buy books on your own. Other expenses like laundry and communications are also paid by you only. During the one month summer and three months winter vacation, you completely have to sustain your self if you decide to remain there. You can well ask for a room grant but you need to pay for the meal. Taking in regard to all, what you wud earn there wud be enough to pay all these. You wud almost require an extra 3-4k if you are not working. Aslo if you need a PC, you can request financial aid department arrange you a loan of max. 1500$. So dont worry now. You can well earn all ur expenses when u r there

^^what he said is what I am worried about....

like what the college says is really only the core expenses....we still have to sustain expenses like vacation room and board, books, health, travel, entertainment, communication and everythin like that.....
so...my advice......start learning how to save money and read princetonreview's How to Pay for college and other books like that......
further.......you may start tracking your daily expenses and get an idea of how much you spend......you could then plan on saving money by cutting in unnecessary expenses.........the bottom line is.......start getting organized financially from now....so you wont have trouble later!!!

ok so how much d'u guys think we'll need for books and miscellaneous expenses per year?

btw aren't calls within campus free? after all you only use extension numbers to call any place within campus!

good thing we get free bus rides within hartford! and.. vacations? well.. tht's more of an optional thing since many of us poor intls will be lookin for summer jobs instead!

good advice ntek511... and aaron56 and others... i rang the fin aid office yesterday and asked them about this "billed cost" they mentioned in our aid offer. That only constitutes of the tuition, room and board and fees. "Fees" here is a bit unclear to me but i take it that this takes care of general fees. Additionally they said around $1800 would be required for miscellaneous costs including books. I guess we would be able to bring that down to sumwhere around 1300/1500 with extensive usage of library and in general adopting cost effective methods....

Additionally on campus jobs are available, so I say we definitely take em as they would only be 2/4 hrs a day max and so should get us good money to spend....

irrationale...easier said than done........adopting cost effective methods is difficult particularly at Trinity......coz Trinity is filled with "Super Rich White Kids who either drive a BMW or an SUV...and who never expect to work until they are like age 30 or something.."..........so our "future frens" are gonna be like spendthrifts.....my point is we're gonna have a hard time livin economically due to our company.........

further.....i bet the 1800 is just an estimate.....i am damn sure its a few hundred dollars more than that.

One more thing guys.......has anyone thought abt using a computer at trinity......what are you guys gonna do.......buy one over there or take it from here......and is it gonna be a laptop or a desktop??

laptop... :p

hehe.. ntek511... BMWs and SUVs sound real promising.. maybe this would bring down our costs... hitch rides in them cars... :D

but on a more serious tone... i think we can manage within a figure below 1800 if we are careful enough and don catch spendthrifty habits

buy a laptop!! :D

oh and being in prodigal company can work to our benefit too!! ;).. moreover, if the rest are rich, it'll be easier for us to get on-campus jobs since they won't really need any.

...the glass is half full!

haha....those are encouraging words aaron.....
where do u think would it be best to buy a laptop....over here or in USA?

the US imo.
reasons:
umm.... -more choices
-original softwares :)
-companies like hp sometime partner with colls to provide students with heavy discounts
-ample insurance coverage

dunno if all my reasons are legit though! hehe

my friend at bristol uni, UK got good hp laptop for a nice and low figure.. even then if we get a good bargain at home.. maybe u should take it... but the million dollar question is... how good a bargain is good enough is the million dollar question... maybe we should ask trinity whether discount offers frm corporates are available there or not..
