Ed I

Sewanee is a much smaller town than Lexington, but it is only an hour from Chatanooga and an hour and a half from Nashville, whereas Lexington is three hours from DC. Lexington is a great town, but in some ways, it is more isolated than Sewanee. Sewanee also has the 10,000 acre domain, which is spectacularly beautiful.

I'm glad that there are ED people posting now. I am surprised though that I am the only student. My parents would never post on a message board, much less one about college. I've been figuring out most of this stuff on my own.

hey bmulez, this is midwest andcrazy's daughter, and i applied ED1. along with obsessively posting here, she calls (probably an obnoixious amount, actually) and last time they said the responses would get out before christmas-- hopefully. i'm getting really anxious, and it doesn't help that i really want to not work on any of my other apps... wishful thinking, perhaps.
i adore washington and lee... i visited this summer and it scooted (scot?) right up in my ranks. its driving my dad insane that he's never seen it. but seriously: mountains, crypts, and red brick? thats my kind of school. none of this ivy league stuff... psh.
what do you want to major in?

Well I am planning on majoring in Politics, but I might want to double major in history depending on how difficult that would be at WnL. I loved the campus and everyone was so nice (what everyone seems to say about WnL).
It is definately my top choice and I have no worries applying ED.

I am also haveing the same trouble forcing myself to finish the other apps just in case. But all the admissions office said was "before Christmas"? I was hoping that I might get lucky and get one next friday but we'll have to see. If you find out when they are getting mailed out be sure to post.

oh also are you applying for the GW Honor scholarship?

T-7 and trying to kill time.

The common data set that now appears has misinformation for the ED last year. The numbers posted are the waiting list numbers not the ED and weren't there yesterday unless my eyes were blind yesterday.

As for Sewanee, the campus is like a bit of England transplanted to a huge forest but you have to visit as it isn't for everyone. A car will come in handy if you want to visit nashville or chattanooga or the Polo outlet. If you are an equestrian the facilities are first rate. It is truly impressive. But it is remote and isn't for everyone. It's also about an hour from the Jack Daniels distillery and in our search for tipsycakes we were able to track it down. (hiccup)

i am applying! (keeping my fingers crossed!) that would be really helpful in actually paying for the school, and they get a lot of benifits, if i remember correctly. hey, maybe i'll see you at the semi-finalists retreat... butwe both have to, erm, get in and appoited first, of course.
one other boy (probably the only other applicant from my school) that i know is looking into business, its quite popular, but being in virginia, it would be hard for me to just ignore all the history around/on campus.
i'm thinking about anthropology, maybe a physics or french minor?

I just went to guidance, WnL requested a 1st quarter report card today, and I had to fax it to them. I'm worried now. Anyone else had this happen thats applying to WnL? Hopefully it will be fine and an a letter will be in the mail soon.

don't get neurotic on us!

that's standard procedure to ask for an update to make sure you don't have senioritis or failing in five of six classes.

you're in--quit freaking. Grades, STandardized tests, sports--the only ones not getting in with your stats are those applying RD. go read some scattergrams and get real.

Haha I know, but they said they only called because they were concerned with my junior grades, but yea. I was doing it more just because it was something to say about WnL, cause I'm completely rapt in the whole thing right now. Anyone know when they are sending out letters?

if you look at last year, it looks like they were mailed on the 15th as someone in va received on the 16th. others typically received on the 19th.

i'm surprised they're still reviewing everything at this stage. i would've thought it would all be over last week.

Good luck to all who have applied. Waiting is the worst part, so hang in there!

Good luck to all who have applied. Waiting is the worst part, so hang in there!

i'll be curious to see what the final numbers for ED are/were. I don't know if the decline is almost universal or just at particular schools.

is there a general decline in ED applications or is there just a decline in ED acceptances? hopefully the letters are sent today, if anyone knows for sure please post.

dima--if you're lurking and still working in admissions, can you verify that they've gone out?

since i have nothing better to think about... in the past did WnL send out acceptances in small envelopes or large packages?

thin regular size last year. giveaway was postage amount. accepted was above the $.39 to mail a regular letter.

Terms over, I'm back in New York, sorry I can't be of more help but I would expect to receive the letters around the middle to end of next week. If you think about it there's quite a lot of reading and then discussing to be done so if they're finished, its probably only been in the past day or two.

I'm not sure what, if anything, I'm allowed to disclose about numbers so I will keep those to myself. You can try calling the admissions office, who knows they might be willing to answer.

Dima- I hope that your term went well! Have a fabulous break with lots of home cooking and visits with family and friends. Thanks for all of your posts. I'm hoping that my daughter will get good news by the middle of next week. I never would have thought the waiting would be this terrible. We just have to think positive.

Musictoad how do you know this stuff? thirty nine cents meant accepted?
