Ed I

i have read all of the posts re: wnl to get an even better idea about the school.

39 cents was NOT good news. You want higher postage for GOOD news if it is the same procedure as last year.

any internationals getting their emails?

I have in my hand an ED II acceptance letter from last year. It is a one-page letter than came in a No. 10 envelope, with $0.39 postage.

Maybe whoever ran last year's ED I acceptance letters through the postage meter forgot to reset it from a prior mailing when they sent to a prospect a brochure or something heavier.

I was just wondering envelope size, and now we are debating how much postage will be. I'm definately not worrying about how much the postage is when I see the letter. It will probably get here tomorrow if they were sent out on Thursday (did anyone get anything official about that?) so I will be sure to post as soon as I find out. Sadly I'll be working all day tomorrow and I'm not letting my parents open anything, so it's going to be a long day wondering if it's here yet and what it says.

Tell them to stop by your work so you can open it during your break.

I live 2 minutes away from where I work so I'm going to try and run home and check the mail during my break, but our saturday mail is so erratic, it comes anytime between 11 and 4:30, so i might not be able to get it until tomorrow night. Best of luck to everyone else, is anyone else relatively close to WnL and hoping to hear tomorrow?

Ohhh this thread has me stressing!!! Okay guys, I just wanna wish everyone good luck!!! Please remember though, that as much as you all want to go to W&L, if you don't get in it probably just wasn't meant to be. I PROMISE that there is more than one school you can all be happy at. (Believe me, I know from experience.) I know W&L would be lucky to have every one of you. Again, good luck.

i've tried to use the new search capabilities but it is beyond my capabilities to retrieve anything using it. I recollect someone stating that the additional postage was due to including a reservation card or other item in the acceptance letter. Maybe that wasn't the procedure for EDII.
This great game of waiting sure is fun nonetheless. It's a good thing it's basketball season!

My letter didn't come today, I got a letter from Sewanee confirming that I applied with a December 14th postmark, I don't understand how I could get a letter from there before WnL (I live in Maryland) so I gues they must have been sent out on friday.

I applied EDI, still waiting to hear....

Just wondering... I know that WnL accepts about %50 of ED applicants but what does it do with the other half? How do the percentages work out for rejected vs. deffered?

Wow! 50%!?

No idea, but they probably defer half and reject half. Just my guess. I best be in the good 50%.

Check the common data set. Last year is wrong (it has wait list numbers accidently) but for 2005 it was 333 applied 173 accepted.

That's pretty good

Similar percentages in 2004 and 2003 as well

good luck to all who receive the letter tomorrow. doubt it will arrive here til wed but we have basketball to keep us rocking along. everyone's given their best shot and i hope it works well for the small group here.

if you get your letter today, please post if there is anything that gives you an idea as to whether admitted or not.

additional postage?
extra heavy/thicker than a letter?
etc.

Did anyone speak to admissions and find out when exactly letters were sent out?

I just called and they said the letters were mailed Friday afternoon!
