ED notification date count down

well at least the wait is over for some of you for Swat, I still have to do a bunch of apps, but im applying ed 2, so if im in, then all of the apps are going to waste.

Yeah, I felt that way for a while about writing my apps, but it's a good thing I did... Treesnogger, Brillar and NeuroticSenior,, where else are you guys applying?
N.

where are you appying froghorn?

Amherst, Bard, Barnard, Bates, Bryn Mawr, Conn. Coll., Clark, Wellesley, Wesleyan and Williams. And guess what? Circa 20 minutes ago, all apps/supps are sent/paid and SAT scores, released! Hallelujah! What about you jmarin?

Amherst, Swat, Berkeley, NYU, Haverford, Cornell, Carleton, tufts, MIT. Ive been pretty much accepted to most of the CSUs and most of the UCs through elc, so I have my back ups in cease I get completely rejected. SO its all good. Is there one in particular that you are looking at?

Ugh I'm afraid to talk about where I'm applying... Vassar is probably my first choice around now, but it's one of about 10 or 12 (including an Ivy but I'm not going to count that as my 'first choice' because I won't get in and I don't want to get my hopes up). Haha, I'm going app-crazy.

I wish Bryn Mawr wasn't an all-girls school. That is the ONLY problem I see with it... UGH. Rawr. I'm still thinking about it, I'm probably going to apply there too if I have time.

brillar, is there a close second to vassar?

Colgate is up there pretty high too... And they even write a little personalized note if you're accepted, which is super-nice.

I was thinking about Tufts and Haverford too. Same with Williams. They were eliminated from the final list. Probably partly because the rejection from Swat scared me away from the very top LACs...

My strategy this round is to learn a crud about the schools but then FORGET about them and STOP RESEARCHING. If I had stopped learning about Swat as soon as I turned in my app, I wouldn't be nearly as attached. Probably should avoid this site too...

trust me, that is what everyone tells me not to get attached, but I still did. but whatever, i think ive grown attached to every single school that has sent me a view book, so im just waiting for the day of reckoning.

It's eery how identical all our thoughts are...

how are they identical?

Nope, I refuse to get attached. It means that I'll have to do a ton of research during April, and the decision will be much more hard to make, but that's okay with me. I know I'm bound to get more rejection letters, I just don't want the experience to be quite as terrible as the Swat rejection. I guess it's better to get excited about the school AFTER you get in anyway...

yup that is what my superintendent told me. SHe said to cast a wide net and and see what you get, then get excited about what you catch and then you get really interested. But I think im attached to a few schools which sucks.

Jmarin: I just meant that it was uncanny how I've had all of the same thoughts as those posted above. The similarity of this experience just struck me. Poorly articulated, mea culpa.

Brillar: I'm trying SO hard not to be in love with the school I really, really wanted to go to (though didn't apply there ED for convoluted reason; I would have loved Haverford too). You're right not to get attached...but it's hard. Are everyone's apps out?

oh ok
makes much more sense
Im almost done with most of them, I will hopefully have everything sent out by sunday and not have to worry about much. Just scared of one recommendation because I gave her 1 month and she still hasn't finished it.

I'm going to finish everything by break and then mail everything around the first of the month- only two schools I'm applying to have a deadline of January 1st, so I guess I was lucky with that. I've mailed out the stuff for those two, but I have about two essays to do- one is optional, but I think it's best that I do it.

I sort of thought about the possibility of adding last minute 1/15 schools, but once the CoA is sent, it can't be changed (and that includes adding recipients). Amherst, Barnard, Harvard (it wasn't a choice; I had to apply as rents are faculty, I play in their orchestra, am a legacy and take classes there....and won't go if admitted) and a few others were 1/1. I just needed to be done and stop vacillating about word choice, etc.

I think the only school that is 1/15 for me is Haverford. Im not going to add anymore but I may cut a few, it really depends on a few factors. Are there any clear choices you guys want now?

I have a clear first, but am not revealing. What I will reveal is that I didn't apply there ED, even though that's where I truly wanted (though Hav would have been great, too). I just wish I hadn't applied anywhere ED.

im thinking if backing our of applying ed 2 so I can turn in the Jan SAT scores because my others ones are not that great and since i have like 3 weeks off, I can study and get a better score.
