ED - quarter grades requested?

Has anybody here who's applying ED heard from his/her school that Emory requested marking period grades?

Are you a senior in highschool?.....I would have thought with the debate you have going on in the other thread that you were already an Emory student. To answer your question, as of today my counselor has yet to hear of any requests/ questions from Emory, did you apply EDI? If so good luck!

I'm a senior. I'm asking this because a student in my grade who's applying to a different school ED is concerned that the university he's applying to hasn't asked for his marking period grades. He's worried that it's an indication that the college isn't as interested in the student, and that the student is more likely to be rejected.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this reasoning? I don't know if I buy it.

I would conject that the policy of requesting 1st Q grades varies from school to school; and, in fact, may vary within a college ( i.e. in the event certain select students are on the borderline, the admiss. folks may ask for the 1st Q grades in contrast to other students who the admiss. folks feel there is no need to bother with same ). In all, there is likely a method to the madness...

Well, I asked my counselor yesturday and he told me he hasn't heard anything from Emory.

I actually sent the admissions office an email, asking a similar question. Here is the response:

"We will look at your class schedule and may indeed ask for mid year grades. We like to see the upward grade trend in all applications. If we don't have it we can request it from your high school."

So I guess it actually depends on your academic record.

well my counseler said that emory has yet to ask for my grades so i dont know if they will be doing so

emory actually send my guidance counselor an e-mail asking for marking period grades today, since i'm doing ed..should i be worried? its so close 2 decision day..

Well, not all schools require quarter grades. Emory wants midyear grades, but I haven't heard anything about quarter grades.

Hi rdesai....I would not worry... the fact that Emory is still asking for material on your behalf clearly indicates interest on their part. Trying to figure out admission committees seems akin to predicting juries...can't be done. Good luck.

So do they want midyear grades for ED II?

Our semester doesn't end until late January...soooo...what happens?

I'd assume they would want Mid-year grades from all applicants no matter which round... whether you've gotten your decison or just starting to apply I think they will still request them. But as stated earlier (or in another thread I cant remember), It will take alot to have an admission reciended ..... since your semester doesnt end until late Jan, then just send them when they come out. But this is just what I understand to be true, you should check to be sure, good luck!

my quarter grades were also requested, good luck everyone!
