I have a question for those of you who were rejected early decision: why do you think you were rejected? What made you a weaker candidate than those who were admitted?

LOL: on what basis do you think that rejected EA/ED applicants know WHY they were eventually dinged? How accurate is their guess of their own selves? C'mon.

"What made you a weaker candidate than those who were admitted?" The same reasons RD students are rejected: others had better: academic metrics, better transcripts, better recs, better personal statements, better hooks dependent on the college, or somehow just didn't grab anyone's attention with their file.

And just because someone was rejected does not mean they are weaker.
They just had a bad luck at the lottery-like system schools play.

yup i agree ^^^

I was rejected from Stanford SCEA.

It's possible that I was rejected because I didn't focus as much on what I wanted to do in the future, but that's pure speculation and I honestly don't know. I was easily qualified - 2250 SAT, 2400 SATII, etc.

It was a really brutal decision round and I'm quite shocked at some of the people who didn't get in. It's really impossible to know exactly why everyone who got in did, and likewise for those rejected.
