ED Scholarship Recipients

<p>Have any ED applicants received a scholarship from Rice before? How commonly does this occur? My understanding is that the scholarships are awarded around April with the RD round - has this actually happened to anybody?</p>

<p>I am wanting to apply ED, and while my family can afford the projected price of Rice, it would be nice to have a shot in receiving a scholarship from Rice. Has anybody been a Century Scholars recipient? What sort of research did you do in high school? I am currently an intern of a summer research program at a local university, and am a research assistant at another lab during the school year - however, I don't plan to enter any research competitions. At most, I might get my name in a small paper. </p>

<p>I don’t think ED’ers receive merit scholarships that often. Merit scholarships are usually tools to ‘woo’ students to a certain university, and the problem for ED’ers is that they’ve already made it clear that Rice is their top choice. I may be wrong though…so don’t get discouraged. There’s always financial aid (Rice is great about fin aid), and you can apply for outside merit scholarships as well. Good luck!</p>
