ed subject tests

2 questions:

  1. If I plan on applying to dartmouth ed and I have two subject tests that are only 690 each, should I send them in? The application only says that they are recommended not required so I was wondering if it would hurt my application.
  2. If I were to take the subject tests again in November, how would the college go about including the score report in my application if the scores do not come out until after the application is sent in?

I’ve found that, in “college application” lingo, “recommended” usually means they /want/ you to _____. So, it won’t really hurt your application if you don’t send them in but you should if you want a better application.

As for the scores themselves… Your 690’s seem pretty high, but since you’re planning to apply to Dartmouth I would recommend that you retake them. Is there no way for you to retake them in October? October SAT registrations are open until Sept 9, and late reg. is until Sept 13 so you still have time. As for including your score report post application submission, maybe try emailing the school about it and inquire about their policies if it doesn’t already say so on the school site.

I assume you’re going for early decision since you need your scores by November. You could always go for Regular Decision, that way you can retake your SAT II’s and improve your scores.
