If someone applied ED and sent in November scores, would that negatively affect his chances of admittance? Because the scores wouldn't be out until the end of November. Therefore, admissions wouldn't look at your application until very late, right?

Yes, the november test would be too late.

Your dile would be incomplete without scores.

From Dartmouth website:

Submitting Scores After the Application Deadline

Applicants may submit additional scores after the deadline for the Admissions Committee’s consideration. The last test dates from which the Committee will consider scores are as follows:

Early Decision Review:

Last test date for SAT/Subject Test: November
Last test date for ACT: October

No, it wouldn’t be too late. I just don’t know if that could actually decrease your chances because they might be reading your application later. That is my question - would they wait to read the application until SAT scores are in November 25?

*Note: I think what you posted is about previous test scores. They want earlier scores in by your deadline.

I believe that unless you have a really outstanding application and sending the scores are merely a formailty, late scores are going decrease your chances as the process still goes forward. Your file does not go to committee until you at least have SAT/ACT scores. If accepted, you will have until January to submit SAT II scores.

Think about it; the internet score delivery is 11/24 (the same day the school closes for thankgiving break). When school opens on 11/30 your scores would still have to be downloaded and placed with your file. Depending on your scores and the makeup of the class which is already chosen (and a large number of the ED class are hooked applicants), your file could go forward, you could be denied or you could be deferred to RD.

If you have a set of scores, I would recommend releasing them, you can always amend your application once you get new scores.

This conversation seems to be about SAT I scores. How about SAT II scores from the November test date? A file can still be reviewed without SAT II scores, no?

Sybbie: I’m sorry; I should have been more clear. I was actually talking about SAT II scores. I’m not very familiar with how Dartmouth works but it seems like you are, so does your former comment still stand? Is it the same/different with SAT IIs affecting admissions in your opinion?

There are students who apply and are accepted every year who do not submit SAT II scores until after they are accepted. If you have AP scores, perhaps you can send them. The more information they school has to evaluate you with, the better off you will be.

The short answer is you can and will be evaluated during ED if you have not submitted SAT II scores.

Hope this helps, good luck in the process.
