Ed vs rd

Will applying RD instead of ED as a legacy hurt my chances of being accepted?

Yes, your chances will be lower RD.

Let me rephrase slightly. Will my legacy hurt me regular decision? I understand that in general ED is easier to get in than RD, but will my having legacy hurt my chances if I apply regular?

I don’t think we have any hard data on this.

Anectdotally – D (multiple legacy)applied RD a year ago to engineering, she was accepted (also received a likely letter), so we didn’t think it hurt her at all.

Of course not. If anything, it won’t help you as mush as it would early decision.

It certainly won’t hurt you to apply RD, but as a legacy you’d get the maximum potential boost applying ED.
