I know I already posted a question similar to this one, so please bear (bare?) with me.

I know Vassar is my #1 choice. I am amazed with the unique student body, beautiful campus, stellar academics, passionate professors and the opportunity to be on an athletic team. Unfortuantely my parents won't let me apply EDII without visiting. This makes sense, however we were wondering if I could apply EDII, visit campus in early January, and then if I really hate it, reduce my application to regular decisions or even withdrawal? Would this be allowed?

Sure, why not. It’s called converting your app from ED 2 to RD. Just give them a better reason than “it’s not exactly what I want”.

Your reason would have to be financial. Otherwise it’s almost like a suitor saying I know that we were engaged, but I’ll marry you only if you turn out to be my best option.

Simply not true. You can withdraw an ED app at an time prior to acceptance, or simply request that it be converted to RD. No explanation needed.

My only suggestion, if you’ve gone ahead and applied ED2, is that you not wait too long before notifying the admissions office of the change. In other words, don’t wait until the day before decisions are supposed to be announced.

I hope you went ahead and did this - it sounds like a good idea!

I will PM you to clarify. Don’t need others to comment.
