Edit of my first thread

I already passed the 20 minute editing mark, and I wanted to make my thread a little more organized.

I was wondering, and I'm only a Freshman right now (about to be a Sophomore) if I was on track with my academics and ec's and stuff, since I want to go to Stanford, MIT, Ivy Leagues, etc.
So, here we go.

Background:

Asian Male (would this hurt or help me?)
I go to City Honors, a magnet school. Also ranked by Newsweek as the top 8th high school in that nation.
I live in New York State

Grades:
I only just finished my Freshman year and have gotten 3 of the 4 report cards.
I got all A's the first term.
7 A's and a B+ second term.
5 A's and 3 B's third.
I know I've been going down, but 4th quarter I tried hard and think I might get all A's again.

Extracurriculars:
School Soccer team
School Track team
Mult- Cultural Club
Next year i also plan on joining the swim team, jazz band, math league, maybe ski club.

During Sophomore year I will take 2 AP classes (AP at my school is mandatory)
and I plan on going full IB during my Junior and Senior year, meaning all IB classes.

Would any working experience help?
Like even if I was just a carrier for a local newspaper company?

Also, my school runs from grades 5-12.
I came here in 9th grade, and their curriculum runs at an "accelerated" level, meaning everyone takes a higher level class than they're supposed to i.e. Earth Science in 8th grade, Geometry freshman year, etc.
Since I came here this year, I was behind in foreign language, and i had to drop from level 2 to level 1.
Will colleges see this?
and if so, will it hurt me?
I plan on doing volunteer work after sophomore year.
I tried to figure out my GPA by myself, and I figured it's around a 3.8. (not sure though)
Please tell me if I'm on the right track or not, and if not, please tell me what else i can do
oh and by the way my school does not have national honor society or class rank (i would be on NHS since I was on NJHS but oh well)
thanks for reading :)

MUCH BETTER.LOL:)

your definitely on the right track. Your report card is looking good (Mostly A's), and thus your rank will also be good. So far you have solid EC's, but if you really want to impress adcoms and be a competitive applicant at Ivies, i reccomend that you hold leadership positions (e.g captain) in those clubs you listed. Also, volunteer somwhere, and start building your commuity service hours at an early age. It looks great when you can list on your application: " 1000 hours of community service". Also, find an academic subject that you're passionate about, and enter some national competitions. for example, if you like math, then go for AIME. if science if your passion, then try out UNSCO or USABO.

Oh yeah, and about the language thing. it won't hurt you that much, if at all. College adcoms will look right over that if they see your schedule loaded with AP's and advanced/honors courses.

so, keep up the good work, and you'll be a good competitor in the college admissions process.

thank you!
and yes i will apply to be on student government for junior year (i can't sophomore year elections already took place)
but thank you very much for you input!

................

Chill, man. You're only a rising sophomore. Just move up in the ranks as much as you can in academics, and do the things you love to do. Positions are nice-however, take note of something Northstarmom said in a previous thread; don't be above the things that need to be done. If there is a job that no one wants, but you are able to do, then do it. It may not be glamorous, but it is important in the end; diligence and effort are ultimately more important than any empty position.

Thanks I'll give it a shot.
Also, my PSAT score was 169.
I took it in November I believe, and it was on the 80th percentile against Juniors.

oh and my scores on the PSAT were like this:
CR: 56
M: 54
WS: 59
