I'm looking for a school with a strong arts program as well as a strong teacher education program. A close-knit feel preferably near/in Pennsylvania. Anyone have any good recommendations? I'm an average student but have lots of community service, extracurriculars, and have a talent in the fine arts. Some schools I've looked into that I've liked include Capital University in Ohio, Byrn Mawr in Pennsylvania, and some art schools like Columbus College of Art and Design, and Moore College of Art and Design both in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Thanks!

I might suggest looking into schools that offer the 5 year MAT (master in teaching) programs. I do not know if it is possible to get an MAT in art, but it will greatly increase your salary and chances of being hired post graduation.

I’m going to Carnegie Mellon U. which has an outstanding fine arts program! I also want to most likely become an art teacher (might do english/social studies instead though), and recently talked to the advisor for people who want to become teachers at CMU. If you’ve heard of Chatham university, it’s known best for its education program, and at CMU you can take classes at Chatham (only a couple blocks away from CMU!) to earn a teacher’s certificate in order to become a teacher. This might be a good option for you :)

Good luck!
