<p>Hi I am currently a first year EE student at UCLA and I want to transfer to UC Berkeley by next fall. I have a few questions about this.
Is this likely or even possible?
What criteria do they look at to determine acceptance?
How competitive do I have to be to have a good chance?
How do I apply and when's the deadline for applications?</p>
<p>I've heard that transferring from UCLA to UC Berkeley is extremely difficult because admissions doesn't see the need for such a transfer. But I am having a horrible time at UCLA, would they take that under consideration? My high school gpa also isn't that strong but my college gpa should be better. If I maintained a 3.8 gpa my first year would I be competitive as a transfer student? What else would make me more competitive for a transfer?</p>
<p>Please shed some light on this issue if you have experience or if you know how the admission process works.

<p>Have you always wanted to live in LA? You’ll love UCLA. I, however, never wanted to live in LA and much prefer my native Berkeley. </p>

<p>Alright so there seems to be a fair shot(20% apparently) for transferring from LA to Berkeley.
My plan now is this: finish my preparation for the major class(prereqs) by second year and apply during the fall session next year. What I’m wondering is if there’s any other requirements I need to be aware of. I’m confused about whether or not GEs must be completed before I can transfer. </p>
<p>Does anyone know anything more about the process? I’ve been reading the berkeley transfer faqs but there isn’t that much information on there.</p>
<p>Talk to admissions at Berkeley. Ask them what they expect UC transfers to have completed.</p>
