3) is it difficult for transfer students to be involved in student organizations and assume leadership positions?

4) when i go for interview, will i have to say i was a transfer student?

5) how likely is a transfer to mit, princeton or stanford (PMS)?

6) are high school records required for transfer application. to berkeley and to PMS(lol)?

7) what would be the acceptance rate for ucla students wanting to go to berkeley? plzz provide an estimate if you cant provide exact figure.

8) any suggestions how i can boost my chance to get into PMS or berkeley on transfer. my high school grades are not very good.

i know there are a lot of questions. but help would be appreciated. even if you can answer 1 or 2 questions. plzz plzzz do. thanks!!!!!

1) It depends on your reasons. The only valid academic one is that Cal offers a program that UCLA does not (such as undergrad biz); or personal – need to be close to your family. Otherwise, you’ll have a heck of a hard time explaining, ‘Why Cal?’

4) What makes you think you’ll receive an interview?

5) Princeton = 0% since they don’t accept transfers. Extremely difficult at other highly selective colleges bcos they have few slots – no drop outs or transfers out.

what if i just want to transfer becuz berkeley is better for what i want to major in. there are professors i want to work with for research also. so that’s one reason. so that’s the main real reason.

interview meaning a job interview. why would i receive one?

oooh- so berkeley is the only probably(?) option.

thnxxx for the answers and others too, plz do answer.

Look at it from the perspective of Admissions: You are already attending a world-class Uni with world-class professors. The question you need to answer for them is: “Why should they give a transfer slot to you over another applicant (particularly from a juco)?” (Just bcos Cal’s xx dept. is more prestigious or has more Nobels is not a good answer.)

Job interview? It may or may not come up. HR will require you to complete an application so you will have to show the multiple schools – HR will probably ask, but any decent reason will suffice. You will also have to list two colleges on your resume. A hiring manager may not care.

to bluebayou.
thxx again!!! you def. raised a good pt. abt. the reason for transferring. but according to stats, abt 20% of those who apply from other non-juco schools get in. so i assumed it would be higher from uc-to-uc- and particularly higher from a top uc. thx again.
