I am an out of state student with an 89 GPA weighted (our school does not do 4.0 scale)
I have a 1760 combined SAT; with an enormous amount of sports and extracurriculars
I applied Regular Decision
I have recieved 4 A's; 2 B's; and 1 D through the first semester of my senior year
The D (which is a 70) is in AP Calculus AB
I am wondering how much of an effect the mid year report has and how detrimental one D in a challenging class can be combined with A's and B's in AP and honors classes.
Am I still Ok?

Does your 89 average include your midyear grades or not (I’m guessing not)? Does the D dramatically change your average? Obviously, a D on the transcript is not desirable, but there’s nothing you can do to change it now. If there’s an explanation, or if you think the teacher would be willing to write a letter about how hard you are working and how the grade does not reflect your effort (if that is the case), that might help. Other than that, don’t stress over it. What’s done is done, and things will work out one way or another, either with JMU or somewhere else. Good luck!
