So I checked my scores today, and my AP lang score was a 2.... Though I did have an A in the class all year. So The hardest school that I'm looking at is Elon, would a 2 hurt me there? And is it worth canceling it?

Virtually no schools use AP scores for admission purposes.

Etuck24 can you elaborate on that? While many take AP courses for the purpose of raising the rigor of their course load, I’m sure colleges to a certain extent care about how you did in those courses. Is that not true?

Very few colleges even let you submit AP scores when applying. You are fine, it just means you will have to take the class in college…

“How you did in the class” is seen on your transcript. Just as SAT scores are not the only thing Adcoms use to determine your academic ability, AP scores are not the only way to see how well you’ve done.

Also, would they rather see that I took it and got a low grade on it, or that I didn’t report anything (and they would assume that I didn’t take it I suppose)?

Like I have said before many schools will not allow you to report scores before you are accepted. Stop worrying, for all they know you chose not to take the exam!

But what about the score that your bubbled in on your form, will it automatically send them there?

1) APs are self-reported. If you get a 2, I’d not report it
2) If low scores are submitted, colleges will look at it and may VERY WELL find fault with it. Colleges have very few items to evaluate you with. This is a telling piece of information. Harvard itself says AP performance is a better indicator than SATs. Take that for what it’s worth.

EDIT: I just read your post #8. If you were my kid, I’d advise you to cancel it.

Just a little heads up to others: I looked into canceling or withholding a score from the school you put on your bubble sheet, and they’re automatically sent out on June 15th, so it’s too late to get those back
