I already though I was somewhat under the qualifications, but today I just found out I bombed the SAT IIs.. (690-MathII, 660-Lit, 680-USH).. Does anyone know how much these count for? Is it possible to change this weekends test from the SAT I to an SAT II? =(

Yes, I believe it is possible to do that. At least where I am, you can just walk up on test day throw the money down and take it. Maybe that's just because I know the SAT coordinator really well (he wrote one of my Duke recs).

You said you wanted to do Economics, right? You shouldn't be that bad off, but I would think that MathII score would keep you out if you were applying for Trinity.

So, retake MathII? Other than that I'm trying to decide whether to retake USH or Lit. (Not retaking all three again)

Sorry I meant to say: "Keep you out if you were applying for Pratt". I don't think that Math score is terribly low for Trinity at least. But retake it if you want, although I'm not sure since you're applying ED if they'll get it soon enough.

Sorry about the Trinity/Pratt mixup....

By chance have you taken the ACT? SAT IIs are only required if you want them to consider your SAT. If you have an ACT that is good, they will take that. It is my understanding that they take one or the other, and will not consider the SAT if you are using the ACT to cover the subject test area testing. Good luck.

my sat ii scores are even worse, but my acts are good. if duke is going to recieve both, will they automatically see that my scores are drastically different on the two tests, or will they take the sat into consideration?

I am not absolutely sure, so you might want to check with the admissions department on this. However, it is my understanding that Duke, like most schools, will consider the best test scores--i.e. if your ACT is better than the SAT/SAT II combo, then they will use that score when evaluating your application (and your SAT by itself won't count--it's either one set or the other.) Of course they will see the other scores, but I think they officially just consider your best score. To be safe, check with the admissions dept. to confirm their current testing requirements (to make sure the ACT alone is still all that is required). Also, remember that test scores are just a small piece of the application. Make sure your other assets (essay, recs, grades) shine :)

I was supposed to take the SAT IIs 3 weeks ago, but my test was rescheduled b/c of the weather. I'm now taking them Nov. 18...and I applied ED. eek, at least the College Board says that my scores will be reported as Oct. 14 scores.

Generally, people do a lot better on the ACT than on the SAT, so they aren't going to deny you if your scores are drastically different. They will evaluate all of your scores, but at the same time, they will consider your transcript, your recommendations, and your EC's as well, so as long as those are strong, don't worry a whole lot about your test scores. I did really badly on my SAT tests, but my brother, who interned in the UVA admissions office, told me that they definitley dont evaluate you based on test scores alone.
