eFTP

Okay, so I just found out about this from reading facebook. Does anyone have information or experience about this? The information about it on the site is a little limited, and all I got from facebook where some very... negative reactions.

Does this program have any value for someone who hasn't decided on engineering, but is considering it as a possibility?

I wasn't in it...but all i heard from my friends were negative reactions. while everyone else was going out, making friends, and having fun over summer b, they were in class or doing homework all day longgg.

It would probably let you know whether or not you should continue to pursue engineering...but so could a few classes like intro to engineering, physics (a few of my engineering friends dropped it after they failed physics), etc.

I don't mind long class hours, nor homework if its relevant, but I heard that there is a lot of busy work and THAT really scares me. Is it true?

Also, is it true that one gets less credit doing eFTP than taking its classes individually?

Yeah, I think eFTP is one credit and it doesn't help at all. Its good to show what engineering courses are like, but it doesn't really help. eFTP is pointless. Stay away from it. You would be better taking summer B. The only problem is, there are no real engineering courses during summer B. I think you can take some gen eds, but I am not sure.

UF sent me information about the program. It sounds like you only get credit for two classes (Chem and Calc), but you go to class from 8 to 3 (M,W,F) and 8 to 6 (Tue and Thur), a lot of work for 6 credits. Although, it does teach you how to use AutoCAD and MATLAB, which won't be covered that much in college. Also, I'm almost positive that Bright Futures does not cover the cost of classes or books.

^ Bright Futures DOES cover the cost of books. Though not all of it, depending on how many books you'll be getting.
