Elaborating on Extracurricular Activities

Hello, I just have a question about the common application and listing extracurricular activites on it. When I applied to most of my colleges in early January using the Common Application, I simply wrote my extracurricular activities under the activities section and did not further elaborate. For example, I'm a member of my school's French Club and this is all I wrote in the space provided. I did this with all of my other activities as well. (I did explain my most signifigant activity using the space allowed on the application.) Should I have explained my role and participation in the club? My activities don't include anything that unusual. Although most of my college application deadlines have passed, I was wondering if I should send in some sort of activites list to colleges describing each of my activities and just hope they'll accept it. Any advice? Thanks.

How were you involved? A lot is self-explanatory and they discourage supplementary material, but if there is something that is not self-explanatory you could briefly explain it and send it in.

Thanks. I was just curious as to whether just writing the name of a club I am a member of is adequate because I didn't even write any short descriptions accompanying the names of the clubs in the small space provided. I believe most of my clubs would be pretty self-explanatory, for example, in French Club we fundraise for yearly trips and raise awareness about French culture. In Debate Club, I debate. Thank you for clarifying.
