I have been admitted to all 4 for Electrical Engineering.
What I’m looking for:
Ample resources to graduate with an EE degree.
Strong well-known EE program
Solid connections/opportunities for internships and research
Safety/Belonging. I am a South East Asian female
Question:
Is Case Western prestigious?
My pros and cons
Purdue:
Pros:
I’ve visited twice, and both times I have had positive experiences.
Highly ranked and recognized esp for EE.
Honors College.
Strong women in stem support programs.
Great career services.
Classes, for the most part, seem to be <100 students
Not super competitive
Cons:
Indiana (1-far from my home in CA. 2-not “hotbed” of tech)
Huge overall
If you google “Purdue racism” a slew of disheartening results appear.
Greek life is homogeneous.
Case Western:
Pros:
Cleaveland/Urban (better place to create connections?)
Smaller Size
Greater opportunities for research
Accepting greek life
Same price as Purdue
Not super competitive
Cons:
Not well recognized.
Harsh winters.
Not super busy social life.
UC Davis:
Pros:
instate tuition!
Well known
Cons:
Very competitive
Davis California
not as prestigious as Purdue (is this a correct assumption?)
UCSB:
Pros:
instate tuition!
Well known
surfing
Cons:
competitive
not as prestigious as Purdue (is this a correct assumption?)
