@RoadTriptoCollege2017 thanks for the feedback . What schools do you sugges for me ?
You should do the Supermatch thing on the left of your screen to see what schools pop up with your gpa,scores, and interests. It will help guide you to appropriate schools.
Not really picky just a competitive school with great minds comprised @zzzlc
I live in Florida but I would be open to scouting out of state @zzzlc
@CGHTeach what schools do you suggest for me
@RightCoaster I can’t see the option
That’a all based on the environment you enjoy, by no means do I mean do not apply, there’s always a chance no matter how slim, but pick something thats decent in the field you want and make sure you love it.
click on the find a college button up top, sorry. That will take you to Supermatch. It is helpful.
i think the fact that you take a lot of challenging classes reflects well on you, but it is important to balance taking hard classes with doing well in them. i took ap Bio sophomore year and got an A-- but that was the only AP i took! APs are very time consuming and it is better to do well in a few than do poorly in a bunch. have you already started apush online? i would try to do it in school if i were you. junior year grades are the most important so its really critical you do well in all your classes while acing standardized tests. good luck!
You need to get out of mobile view to access the SuperMatch. I do think this feature would be helpful to you. It’s impossible to chance without test scores. But you can play with the numbers and your wants to get some ideas.
Since you already know your UW gpa will be lower than you’d like for the type of schools you are interested in, you should take extra care prepping for SAT & ACT. Also, consider taking a few SAT Subject Tests in areas you feel are strengths. )Some say high Subject Test scores can help a little in balancing out low course grades. )
Good luck!
@prospect_15: Why are you hung up on taking the AP classes? I agree rigor of the curriculum is important, but if you are not able to manage the workload and if it is affecting your GPA then it is not helping you. I am surprised that your school allows so many AP classes in Sophomore year! Unless you are a straight A student, not being academically challenged enough, you need not have taken all those AP classes, AP Bio especially, if you are going to study law and not into science or stem then why take tougher classes that drag your GPA down? Did you just take the classes or did you also take the AP exams? How was your AP score? AP classes are truly advanced classes, that’s why you get college credits for them if you take the AP exams, they require additional practice. Your guidance counselor should be able to help you pick classes that fit you. You are working hard and looking to improve your grades from a B Avg to an A- or A Avg which is very good. Keep it realistic. See if they will let you start out in a honors class and transfer to an AP class if you are handling the workload well.
Most schools first look at your GPA, your class rank and test scores ( SAT/ ACT, & SAT 2) before they look at your ECs
They want to be sure you can handle the workload in a college. CMU, for eg, requires SAT 2 scores for some of it;s programs. This requires a lot of preparation and considering that you are yet to take an Algebra class you may have to focus on your online class for Algebra and make sure you have a good grasp of the material there. you will need algebra for all your testing. Use your summer to study algebra on Khan academy or other sites to be prepared for your class. Good Luck
@Prospect15 You say the grades don’t reflect your intelligence, so what were your AP scores? Those would be a pretty accurate reflection of how well you knew the material.
