Eliteprep summer 2018 in plano tx

I (my parents) am thinking of signing up for the Elite prep sat 1500+ program this summer at the Plano TX location. So far I have not seen many reviews for this prep class. If some one has taken these, please provide any feedback. Only feedback I see is 1 on yelp. There are good reviews for some of the other prep centers in california.

Thanks in advance

Soon.

Hi @SatSoon - we are in California so I can’t review the Plano location but I can tell you that the Elite approach is very effective. If they use the same curriculum in TX you take a test each week and then self-correct. Then they teach you stuff you didn’t know. It’s tedious, hellish, boring as heck… and it works. My kids went to high schools where standardized tests were not heavily “taught”, each of them did an Elite summer session and were “one and done” on their ACTs. Highly recommend if you’re willing to put in the work.

@CaMom13 Thank you for the quick reply. Yes, that is what they follow., the director met with us after the diagnostic test and reviewed the course offering. Based on my diagnostic result they recommended SAT 1500+ boot camp. There are a lot of kids that are taking this.

The director also echoed your feedback. It’s going to be tough/hard work.

Did your kids get to enjoy/do anything else in summer with this course.

Thank you

@SatSoon … I have to say - they did very little else, some relaxing at home but no other activities! But it didn’t take up the whole summer - maybe 6 weeks? I know my older missed the last week of the course for a family trip and that was fine. We summed it up as “it’s going to suck” … and it did. But ultimately they were both grateful to have done it since a. they were happy with their scores and b. by the time they took the actual test they had zero test anxiety - when you’ve done these tests each week for 6-8 weeks running taking the actual test is a breeze.

Many many kids at my kid’s HS go to Elite Prep here in CA. It’s almost like a rite of passage for rising juniors. One thing to note, the program is designed to take you to 1500-ish. If you take the diagnostic and you score well over 1500, if they’re honest, they will tell you that it’s a waste of your money and time.

Thank you for your feedback. It’s very helpful.

@ProfessorPlum168. Thank you for the feedback as well. I am currently in 9th grade and will be a sophomore in fall. I scored a 1350 on their diagnostic test. Based on that they recommended the SAT 1500+ boot camp.

@CaMom13 … Thank you as well.

Going to join

@SatSoon If you are in the 9th grade and already have a 1350, it seems premature to sign up for SAT prep. Your score may well rise naturally as you have more time spent in school. Next summer seems like a better time to consider taking this prep course.

I agree - @SatSoon - wait until next year. Spend this summer on something more personally rewarding!!!

@SatSoon not sure if Elite Prep has a PSAT prep that is much different than the SAT but that’s probably the more important test at this point. That’s the money test - the test that earns you scholarships and notoriety. Some kids take the SAT test at the end of their sophomore year, but those are usually (or rather, should be) kids who know they can score well over 1500.
