@univbound101 That’s good to know too. Didn’t realize that those schools didn’t require a parent contribution. We definitely would have met the threshold! (but I doubt I would have gotten into those three lol)

There is a difference between schools in how they handle outside scholarships, so it is best to check with each school to see what their policy is. One school we looked at starting reducing the need based grant after $2,000 of outside scholarships by 50% of the scholarship amount, essentially splitting the benefits of the scholarship. The school my daughter is going to attend reduces the un-subsidized portion of federal loans first, followed by an equal reduction in subsidized loans and work study amounts.

It helps to reduce that loan amount and work-study at least. All packages have the work-study, depends on the school about the loan.

@Inquiring123 Yeah, the National Finalist application popped up as an “additional form” underneath the box with the state finalist application on the ists dashboard/homepage. I’m from MA.
