Elon University BFA Acting

Hi!
This is my first time posting on this site, but I've been reading people comments for a least a year now. It seems to me that Elon has made a name for itself when it comes to it's MT program, but what about the BFA Acting? Can someone who goes to Elon tell me if all the attention goes to the musical theatre kids or do the acting students get the same amount of attention? I've turned down going to a ton of schools because once I've looked into them I realize they only really care about there Musical Theatre program, and I really don't want to end up at a school like that. Any help you guys could give me on the subject would be great! Also is the acting program as hard to get into as the MT program is??

The acting program wasn’t as competitive as the MT program when I auditioned a few years ago, but Elon’s reputation is growing steadily.
They do a good amount of straight shows, both on the mainstage and in a “studio” or student-run format.
While the MT majors do seem to have a bigger prescence on campus, I think the BFA Acting program is certainly reputable and I loved the classes I sat in on.

My son Was accepted into Elon’s BFA Acting program, and considered going. But after visiting, talking to students there and students he knew who were applying to Acting programs, he believed that Elon is more of a musical theatre program than an acting program. He spent two summers at UNCSA acting program, and many of the faculty at UNCSA suggested the same to him.

On the other hand, it is a beautiful campus, nice school and tuition is not in the stratosphere. Hope this helps. Good luck!
