Email about meeting with alumni

I just got an email from an alumnus that said she would like to meet with me if i have any questions. im applying ED to ILR. Is this the same as interview because i though ilr only offered interviews for transfers?

There are a lot of threads on this. This is not an “interview” it is an informational contact meeting. A meeting with an alum can provide you with a lot of information about the Cornell experience.

i got an email too! how should I prepare for the meeting?

I did too. The interviewer asked for a date, but I told her I was working that day and I asked for another day and she never emailed me back. Last week. I guess you only have 1 chance for an interview. Not a big deal though.

The interviewer asked me to meet her on a weekday but I have school :S

The best preparation for the meeting is coming with questions about Cornell/explain why you’re interested. Other than that, relax because they don’t really count for much. If you forgot something on your application that might be significant, you can use that opportunity to tell your interviewer.

These are information sessions done through the Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassadors Network. They can help to answer your questions and help you to provide additional information beyond your application.

Dress neatly, have a set of questions and be able to answer one simple question, “Why Cornell?”.

Don’t be nervous. It’s relaxed and informational. It can only help you.

And don’t turn the opportunity for this meeting. It won’t be held against you if you don’t receive the opportunity, but if you turn down the opportunity, it will be noted as well.

when is the deadline. my interviewer asked me to choose a date and email her back. if i request a meeting next weekend, will it be acceptable?

@casablancama: I emailed my interviewer (just informational, not hotel or ILR) back yesterday asking what time would be best for her. She emailed me back today specifically requesting a face-to-face next weekend, 11/19-20 – so I’d assume next weekend is fine. (:
