Got an email (2 parts) from college board saying that I should think about retaking the test. Did everyone get this email or does this mean I did horribly on the Dec 1st test?!

What specifically did it say?

***, are you thinking about taking the SAT® again? It’s a smart move: Students who take the SAT a second time often score higher. Taking the SAT again is a great way to strengthen your college applications.

and

*** as you get ready to finish your junior year, don’t miss your chance to take the SAT®. It gives you the opportunity to show colleges who you are and what you know, and it can connect you to scholarships and financial aid.

This seems pretty standard. Of course they want you to pay to take it again. And one can always improve anyways. Don’t worry about it.

Thanks! I had the feeling that this was some marketing ploy that they use to get people to sign up for the next SAT before releasing the scores for the current one, but I wanted to make sure. Pretty tricky the college board is… :P

It’s nothing directed particularly at you. My sister got one, too.

I’d say how high are your scores. A lot of people on Collegeconfidential are ivy-seekers so here - If you were to score like a 2150+, imo it’s not worth it to take it again. If not, why not try again. A lot of people take it twice.

Also, are you a senior? Because if you have already applied and are taking it in January or later I doubt it would help you in any way.
