I received an email from the Office of Financial Aid this afternoon requesting missing W-2 form information. Would an email this late be a sign of admissions, and if so, would it mean that I would not qualify for much financial aid due to the lateness of the decision making?

Don’t get hopes up, but sounds like a good sign. FA office probably needs to finish packet for next week. Send it in.

Good luck!

It sounds like it would but I got a similar e-mail from Middlebury and I was waitlisted.

In my experience, this means nothing. In true need blind schools FA has no idea of what admissions is doing and vice versa. Both need to be ready on the same day.

It would be interesting to know if that’s true mythmom. Do they really run packages on every financial aid applicant, or do they receive admitted files to package as admissions goes through applicants? The former seems like a lot of unnecessary work.

I know many college do, Of course, I can’t speak for all of them. We got requests for info up to the last week for schools that ultimately sent rejections. Not Williams. :)

That’s good info to know mythmom. Understandable to try and read the tea leaves but all will be revealed soon enough. Good luck firstgenn!

Just an update: I was accepted! A similar situation happened with Duke, where I was contacted from Financial Aid a few days early for specific information. I was also accepted there. I’m in a similar situation with Brown, so if things go well there, then I’d assume that a financial aid email is a good sign.

Nevertheless, I have a rather uncommon financial background, so I wouldn’t say that no fin aid email is a bad sign, just that one leading up to the decision date can be viewed as a good sign. Good luck all :)

For future seniors reading this:
I have stuff missing for financial aid as well, and I didn’t get jack from the financial aid office.

Got my decision today: accepted.

Don’t read into this stuff unnecessarily - it will seriously drive you nuts for no good reason whatsoever. Trust me.
