Can you post the email you recieved? I would be most intrigued to see if this email holds merit.

Dear X,

Although the Admissions Committee is still deliberating, the Financial Aid Office is currently reviewing Class of 2017 documents. We want to ensure that when candidates are selected for admission, we will have sufficient information on file to make a financial aid decision. Your application is currently incomplete. Please check online for detailed information.

If you have recently supplied the requested information, please allow at least one week for this information to be processed and logged in to our system. You may check online at any time to see the status of your application.

If you have additional questions about your financial aid application, we hope you will contact us at (800) 443-3605 or Financial.Aid@Dartmouth.edu. Please do not reply to this email address.

If you no longer wish to be considered for financial assistance, please notify our office.

@jaberwoo: Did you send in the main essentials (IDOC, CSS, FAFSA)? I think the email only applies to that; the other stuff comes later along (i.e. if you look at the purpose of Title IV, it really is irrelevant for the purposes of actually calculating you an aid amount).

The more I read it, the more generic it sounds. I need to take a break from thinking about college apps. Iām losing my mind.

Missing IDOC/NCP. That must be it!

I mean, you had to have seen this thread form 2009 ā¦ http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/dartmouth-college/660638-likely-letter-financial-aid-mystery-3.html

There seemed to be a coorelation. Is there anyone that turned in all of their things after they got the email and have a complete FA application?! If there was such a person, we could solve the mystery.

@HONOR I had everything in on the 5th of March. No Email. Only Reviewing

Similarly, I had everything by march 6th and never received an email. All my documents are reviewing except the css which is satisfied.

Sent from my SGH-T959P using CC

How long has it been like that? If CSS is randomly only satisfied, then the whole āin reviewā thing could be more or less meaninglessā¦

@canadian2013 exact same boat exept itās my Fafsa (Youāre canadian Iām assuming so you wouldnāt have this) and css.

Any one else in this position?

@honor, I believe for a while. As the new IDOC forms came in, the IDOC and Title 4 and ish sat in reviewing. Fafsa and css in satisfied

So with the satisfied vs. reviewing status, does that mean the reviewing is the final step or does satisfying fulfills the criteria for a ācompleteā FA app? Is it possible that there is a third status that blatantly states ācompletedā?

would one receive this email if one hasnāt submitted the IDOC yet (parentās are late with tax returns)?

Another thought came to mindā¦ when did you guys get the financial aid email? I got two: one on February 25th and another on March 6th. If they were sent out en masse, could mean theyāre generic; if they were sent out individually on different dates, it could support our little theory that these emails are indicative of our apps.

Css was satisfied for ages and it ws always satisfied, never in review( that I know of, I didnt check often).
Then on march 6th they added everything else - I sent in the css earlier.

No matter what happens. Lets each post oue financial aid status and our admissions decision so future students can figure it out more easily.

Exactly.

BTW, hearing NOTHING means NOTHING, too! All that tells you is that IF they are putting together a package for you, they think they have all of the info they need. We received the very specific inquiry only from D. All of the rest of the schools that accepted him apparently felt they could go ahead a put together a package with the info they had.

If you honestly got in Dartmouth would have sent you a likelyā¦it probably means little to nothing. Not saying you didnāt get in but people always flip when they get these kind of emails.

Lol āalargeblackmanā - great username.

Just found the āTitle IV Student Account Authorizationā On my Dartmouth financial aid portal - what is it?

Whoops, sorry guys, just re-read the last few pages and answered the question myself :)

Yeah, I think alargeblackmanās rightā¦ Got a similar email from UChicago. Did a lot of research and there seemed to be a strong trend with them too - not even waitlisted. Sigh.
