I have five requirements under ‘received - review in progress’ and one in ‘received and satisfied’, doesn’t that contradict that hypothesis?

POmani, It depends on which document is satisfied. If they reviewed 2012 tax return, they might cross check it against your FAFSA.

It’s my CSS profile that’s been satisfied. If that helps.

Oh, and I’m an international btw, so I don’t claim FASFA

Pomani, my predication is that your chance is remote.

Haha, cheers mate.

@johnyenglish, I have to say that I don’t really know where your extrapolation is coming from.

I’m checking out, guys. Will update when I receive my decision. This is all a bit ridiculous…

^I agree. But if any future student are wondering (omg, it’s like travelling to the future)…
SAT - 2130 (CR: 730, W: 760, M: 640) 4.0 GPA, 710 Lit and 790 WH SAT IIs, 1/118 class rank.
And 5 documents were received March 11th, still ‘received - review in progress’ my CSS is ‘received and satisfied’ as of February 5th.

stupiddorkyidiot, I am not saying you are admitted just because your status is received-satisfied. I am saying that anyone is in received-review in progress status will either be denied or waitlisted.

POmani, the stats is only relevant/predicable if you are black or spanish. I know an Asian boy scored near perfect on SAT I, 800 MATH II SAT subject test, 800 PHYSICAL SAT subject test, national AP scholars with more than 10+ AP courses. He scored 5 on most AP exams. He is deferred and rejected everywhere. If you are an international students from Africa, your stats might be good. If you are an international students from Asia, you should not even try.

Mate, I’m talking to people from the future. I wonder if they’ve made alien contact yet…

And since when did the Spanish have an advantage?? Haha, I presume you mean ‘hispanic’

@johnyenglish - Chill out man. No one knows what happens behind closed doors!! Haha! :)

umm…so i received an email from one of the admissions people specifically requesting an updated version of my 2012 financial aid form (I formerly submitted the 2011 returns because my 2012 forms weren’t out) and two days later, I received a generic email, which looks like one of those emails that they send to everyone, asking me to check my financial aid status online. I sent the forms three days ago via email and now all of the items are under received and satisfied…i don’t want to read into anything but i really can’t help but think: should i be expecting good news…?

This thread is interesting. I’m not sure if I should lend credence to any of these theories, or if all of us are just reading way too far into it. I guess we’ll find out on the 28th.

I’ve submitted my FAFSA and CSS info, but parents haven’t filed their taxes yet so the IDOC confirmation is still listed as missing. The other forms are “Received and satisfied,” but I haven’t been contacted by the aid office regarding the unsubmitted documents so I really have no idea what to expect. I’m not as competitive as many other applicants, and I hesitate to believe that “Received and satisfied” is necessarily a good sign. But again, we’ll find out in another eight days.

If it’s anything of note, I got an email mid-February on financial aid, but it’s obviously generic. Although, I did send my 2012 tax returns over the weekend, and currently, it says: Communication received from family - Received, review in progress. My CSS ‘progress’ indicates that it has been reviewed and satisfied.

Also, I don’t know if this is just me, but I think we may be reading into all the irrelevant nuances a bit too forcefully (I’m guilty of this; I say this to myself each time I check to assuage these ill-conceived notions). Besides, I hardly doubt a place like Dartmouth, whose admissions office is obviously seasoned with tens of thousands of applicants, subtly hints at chances of admissions in what can prove to be such a blindingly obvious way.

^If this was Facebook, I would like your post.

^agreed. When you think about it it’s little ridiculous to try to come to any sort of reliable conclusions with a sample size of ~15 people when 2000-3000 are going to be admitted out of tens of thousands of people

I’m just posting to share my FA experience, mainly for next year’s applicants. Will update my admissions result. Feel free to hypothesize as you like.

(Also I think that the CSS Profile was automatically set as ‘Received - satisfied’ for everyone? It had that status when I first logged on back in Feb.)

I did not submit my tax returns (note I am an international student and do not use IDOC or FAFSA) and received the generic email informing me that my FA materials were incomplete in late Feb/early March. I submitted them via mail, and the status for those tax returns were later listed as ‘Received - review in progress’ for a period of 1 week. Then, last Wednesday, the status on my parents’ tax returns changed to ‘Received - satisfied’ and were no longer listed in the ‘Unsatisfied’ section.

Hopefully that makes sense!
