Emerson 2006-2007 Acceptances

This is a place where all new Emerson MT’s can post their acceptances

still anxiously awaiting!

A friend of ours just got his acceptance, so you should know soon. Hang in there!

Okay so a weird thing happened today. I am applying to Emerson, and I am not auditioning until Feb, so I was planning on applying Regular Decision. I sent my app and everything in back in early october. They sent me a letter like a month ago saying i was applying early action and that i was missing a recommendation (that had definitely already been sent) and my SATs. I resent these things very recently, and my mom called and told them that I would be applying regular decision, not EA. But today I got a letter saying that I had been accepted eary action to Emerson, and that since I hadn't auditioned yet, my Performing Arts decision would be sent in early April. This is weird because there is no way that they could have gotten that recommendation and my SATs in time, unless they actually had them and thought that they didnt. My question here is-if, in April, I get rejected from the BFA MT program, can I still attend Emerson for something like Theatre Education or another non-audition major? I feel like they said at an open house I went to that you can't do that but now I'm just totally confused.

I posted a reply twice that got lost in cyberland due to CC going down. One more try...
Kasl....Yes, if you are accepted to Emerson but not to the BFA, you can attend any of Emerson's non audition based BA degree programs. Two years ago, my daughter applied/auditioned EA to Emerson to get an early audition done and to hear from one school earlier, and she was admitted in Dec. EA to Emerson but deferred for the BFA in MT until all the auditions were completed and the decisions were rendered April 1. She did not end up being admitted to the BFA but could have chosen to still attend Emerson. She did not wish to go there without the BFA, and had other BFA acceptances in hand. But she could have had she wanted to. Some do choose to attend Emerson anyway. In any case, congratulations on being accepted to Emerson as it feels good to get into college so early in the season! Bravo!

I think you and my daughter are becoming each others shadows! First auditioning together at UArts and now Emerson. Shoshana is in the exact same situation you are in. Application and all supporting materials sent in very early for RD but treated as EA. She received the same packet today that you received. Same deal, pending her audition in February. It really is a small world that you and my daughter are entering. Congratulations on your academic acceptance and good luck with your audition.

I got my early action acceptance letter for MT yesterday! Yeah!

I got deferred to regular admission, i would like some honest oppinions about how you feel my chances fall? I really am gunning for this one and am hopin i make the cut. I feel like I have a lot to offer and there are not a lot of "MT Kids" that fit my "type". Looking forward to hearing from all of you. And 4 the two who have made it so far r u male/female?

We know of 2 guys in the Boston area who were just accepted. (I think they take 20 - 24?) There's still time. Good luck to you!!

I'm a female! :)

soozievt, thanks! It is nice to know I at least have that option now! :) I am applying to some other non-audition theatre programs, but they are at more academically competitive schools so they are not actually backups...just selective in a different way! I really do hope to get into Emersons BFA program though!

MichaelNKat-that is so funny! When is your daughter audition for Emerson? Mine is Feb. 17th. It is cool that I got to meet her, from what I could tell she seems very talented; a great dancer too! Good luck on all that is coming and I wish your D the very best!

My daughter's audition is also on Feb 17, at the afternoon session. Hopefully we will all get to chat in person! Best of luck at all of your auditions.

Yeah that is great! It will be cool to see a familiar face :)
