Emerson or Rowan

Okay so I was accepted to Emerson as a transfer from Rowan as a Sound Design/ Audio major. I’m currently a Television/Radio major at Rowan University. I’m starting to get cold feet. At Rowan I’m closer to home and to my girlfriend at Saint Joe’s but I feel like I would be getting a better education and have better opportunities for networking at Emerson. However if I go to Boston I feel that I might not be able to handle it and would most likely be taking trips often to Philadelphia anyway to see her. I really need some help. I just got a 3.9 last semester at Rowan leaving me with a 3.7 GPA overall there.

I’m saying that I might not be able to handle things because I originally transferred from Ithaca to Rowan my second semester of college to be close to her and to home. I couldn’t handle it. I thought I might be able to now in my second half of sophomore year but I still don’t know if I really can.

Is it worth it to go to Emerson for the education I feel I would get there or does it make more sense to stay at Rowan where I feel I’d be happier but not as happy about my education there and ultimately internships and career. The goal is to work in New York City.

Girlfriend vs future. Your call, although I doubt Emerson could give you any better advantage in terms of getting a job in NYC than Rowan if your really apply yourself.

I understand wanting to stay close to home and your girlfriend, but it depends on how you feel about her. I personally have always thought that education should be a higher priority but that’s a personal call. Rowan is certainly not a bad school and if you apply yourself, like @International95‌ said, you’ll be able to work in NYC. Emerson is a good school that specializes in what you want to go into, however it’s in Boston. At Emerson, you’ll probably get more opportunities in Boston than in NYC. Eventually, you can work your way over to the Big Apple, but that’s all speculation.

Any particular reason why you didn’t transfer to SJU?
