Emma Watson

who else wants to go to yale now because emma watson might be going there??!!

Oh me…totally. That would be like amazing. Maybe we’d be roomies.

:P

does anyone have a list of celebs going to ivy leagues, and which one? im interested now, this might affect my college choices next year

i believe james franco is enrolled at columbia & takes some classes at nyu.

…i NEED to attend columbia or nyu, haha <33

Is anyone else bothered that celebs are going to Ivy caliber schools? I’m not saying that Emma Watson and James Franco aren’t smart… they could have perfect SAT’s for all I know. But assuming they don’t, why should they get a shot at an Ivy league education? They’re already super rich, why not admit some really smart kid from a tough background instead? I think it’s wrong that famous people can essentially go to school anywhere they want.

AT9: everybody, rich and por should have the same chances. She wants to better herself, she should. Brooke Shiels, Jodi Foster did it too, and they continue to have successful careers. College is the best thing that celebrities can do, they would be a great role model for young people. I would prefer that to a Vanessa Hudgens, for example, that cannot hold any decent conversation without the “you know”, “like” etc.

Emma W. is very smart and reportedly has done extremely well in school – it’s no surprise that she’ll be going to a top school. If I’m not mistaken, both her parents went to Oxbridge, so I thought she’d be headed to one of those … but then again, maybe she liked Yale better?

Either way, I do think she deserves to go there if she’s got good scores/grades and from her interviews, she has always said she wants to continue her education – and that she’s not sure whether she wants to act all her life.

Multitasker: I agree with you wholeheartedly, everyone should have the same chance to succeed. But my point is that these celebs are probably not up to par with regular Ivy league students. If Emma Watson has a good SAT score (and she may, this is not directed at her personally) with other great qualifications, then by all means, her admission is justified. I just think the standards for admission are significantly lowered when it comes to celebrities, and that they have stings to pull that no one else has… and that goes for people with powerful political names, etc. But everyone, rich and poor, joe-blow and celebs, should have the same chances and standards in the admissions office.

The problem isn’t that celebs go to great schools, the problem is that if they weren’t famous, they probably wouldn’t ever get into those schools.

And I guarantee you, if Vanessa Hudgens wanted to, she could get into an elite school.

Btw…

Just to make this clear, I’m not here to bash Emma Watson. In the tv interviews and clips I’ve seen of her, she seems really intelligent… then again, maybe it’s the British accent haha.

You can’t deny that making millions as an actress is pretty damn impressive EC/job :).

AT9, I understand your point completely! ")
I had a flashback when the Olsen twins began their studies at NYU, ha ha, that was funny.
But a kid like Joel Osment, who happens to be at NYU (?Tisch), is well deserved.

driscol: haha, that’s true. But Lindsey Lohan has also done that, and I wouldn’t exactly consider her Yale material.

The Olsen twins… haha. Are they still there?

AT9: I think one of them dropped, and the other is the eternal student (?Ashley)

acting is hard work, these kids probably deserve it

Only the ones that can control their drug habits.

^ hahahah

yeah, and correct me if I’m Mistaken but wasn’t Emma Watson going to Cambridge or oxford?

Hard working actors/actresses deserve it? Hahaha

I’m sure acting is hard work, but they’re already multi-gajilionares… there is no way they “deserve” to go there. They can quit their terribly hard jobs anytime they want and not work another day in their life.

I heard Emma Watson scored in the top 2% in England for her A-levels. “Receiving 10 A GCSEs.” Obviously she is rather intelligent, don’t just assume that because she’s an actress that she got in without merit.

Agree with Chaotic. Gina Davis is MENSA member, and she is an actress. Natalie Portman is somewhere around that ballpark too.

AT9, Emma Watson is actually someone who, had she not been a world-famous actress, would still have a chance at ivy-caliber schools.

She’s done really well on her A-levels (whatever the hell those are, crazy British systems), so we can assume she’s rather bright.

I wonder what their lives are like in college. I’m guessing they don’t dorm or anything, lol.

Not-so-breaking news: I did a quick google and found that “rumors of Emma Watson to enroll at Yale are false.”
