Emory and Goizueta Business Scholars help to get into Emory?

Even if you don't get these Scholar awards (rejected, but still applied), does it still help your chances of getting into Emory? I feel that my Goizueta essay is like a continuation of my common app essay (but with far more insight) that I feel will grab the attention of the admissions officers, so will they consider your Scholars essay with your regular application?

haha...if only that were true.....we thought so also; essays were amazing; stats high....waitlisted RD...apply ED if you really want to go.....my D couldn't/wouldn't pull the trigger....all good though.....good luck!

I didn't really understand, you're saying that they don't consider the Goizueta/Emory scholars essay with the regular application? Oh, and what do you mean your daughter couldn't/wouldn't pull the trigger? She got accepted, but just didn't want to go?

....yes, they consider the scholars essays with the regular application.
She couldn't pull the trigger for ED anywhere; no real first choice....(but made it very clear to admissions that Emory was one of her top choices)....
RD last year was impossible for northeast kids (and girls especially....)....
possibly could have been accepted off waitlist, but chose not to be considered.....(admitted to two of her other top choices)....

I have no direct data to support this, but I got the feeling that being nominated by one's school for Emory scholars might help with the application as a whole. We live in the metro area so a lot of kids from DS's school apply to Emory. Only a max. of 4 can be nominated for Emory Scholars each year from the school. DS was fortunate to be one of the 4. If a student is invited to Emory Scholars weekend, they are guaranteed a .. I think its 14K scholarship. DS wasn't in that semifinalist group, but he was awarded a small (I think it was about $6100/yr) scholarship with his admission. He ended up choosing a different school, but I think the Emory scholars nomination may have influenced his acceptance and small scholarship. (Wish we could have given it to your dau, Rodney!! )
