<p>ok so heres the deal.</p>
<p>i applied to emory a few days before the deadline. i already knew i was nominated for the goizueta scholarship so i applied for that. however, i applied over the weekend and learned that a student could be nominated for both the emory scholars and the goizueta scholarship, but i wasnt in contact with my counselor and wouldnt see her until that monday which was after the deadline. so i checked off both on my application, assuming that the worst case scenario was that id see her on monday and shed say she had nominated four other students for the emory scholars and that i couldnt apply (basically checking both on the application was a precaution). and thats exactly what happened.</p>
<p>so i called admissions and the advisor told me not to worry, basically when the committee collected all the scholarship materials they would see that i had nothing for emory scholars and therefore i wouldnt be considered, but of course id still be considered for goizueta which i did apply for.</p>
<p>anyway - i just got an email that reads:</p>
<p>The Emory Scholar Selection Committee has concluded its review of nominees for our program of merit-based scholarships. I regret to inform you that you will not advance to the semifinalist round of the Emory Scholars selection process. It is always an extremely competitive process; this year more than 2,500 students were nominated for our scholarships; and fewer than 350 students were named semifinalists.</p>
<p>i am extremely confused about this email on a few notes. number one: it doesnt mention the goizueta scholarship at all which is the one i applied for. number two: emory scholars decisions supposedly came out on the 22nd - so why would i be getting this email now? number three: i have received multiple emails specifying that goizueta decisions would be released this friday, january 28.</p>
<p>can anyone help me out here? has anyone received a goizueta semifinalist email? or is this just a confirmation that i didnt semifinal in emory schols (which was expected considering i never applied). or do they just classify goizueta as emory scholars? which i didnt think was the case because ive received emails telling me when emory scholars decisions would be released and emails telling me when goizueta scholarship decisions would be released, so clearly emory has distinguished the two as separate entities.</p>
