Also I received an email yesterday, the 9th at 11am, but it was just a form email explaining the initiated ED1 form needed. It went into an explanation of how opus may be updating and asking for new items. NBD. But it seemed to allude to them having problems with opus.

has anyone called?

I’ll probably call when I’m on the train coming home. If earlier I’ll post here.

You get to ride a train home? That’s sick. But on to other matters, when I called they said the 15th. Who knows, it may be earlier though. Also, was applying ED showing enough interest, or was there something else I could have done apart from a campus tour?

It’s not sick - it’s an hour each way. It’s incredibly boring. I take it you called today? Also, I talked to some students, some alumni, a professor, and my regional counselor. I also ordered the Emory DVD - I think that’s it…

Ok, I called just a few minutes ago and asked if there was any possibility of hearing results sooner than the 15th. I was told by an actual person in admissions (who was very kind by the way), an emphatic “NO WAY, we are so busy now using every minute of every hour to complete the process, it will definitely NOT be earlier than the 15th!”. Then she chuckled and said “you’ll just have to bite your nails a few more days, honey, but Wednesday will be here before you know it!”. So that’s the official scoop. And, by the way, the phone rang ten times before anyone even picked up and I heard busy chaotic paper-shuffling and phones ringing in the background, so I know they are really working on it!
So, guys, let’s just focus on homework, end of term exam studies, and try to wait it out!
Enjoy your weekend…

You guys do know that the people who pick up the phone in admissions truly do not have a clue what is going on behind the scenes, right? They are hired administrative assistants who are told what to say when someone calls and asks “when are we going to hear?”

Also, OPUS has been unreliable since the beginning of time…this is nothing new…

Have been watching Emory admissions since 2004; nothing has changed this year…you will know when they send you the email that they are releasing decisions…end of story

and in reference to a million other question on some other Emory boards, being nominated for an Emory Scholar has NO influence on the admissions decision; at least it hasn’t for the past 6 admissions cycles…

Thanks for the update. Man this sucks. I can’t focus on homework, or exams, I can’t wait it out. How can we enjoy our weekends???

ya that does suck. i was so looking forward to finding out tonight :(

You think the trainride sucks? That really tells me something…

Wedensday really can’t come soon enough.

Yo, Rodney, of course I am totally aware of the difference between an “administrative assistant” and and actual Admissions Counselor, I made sure I was transferred (took three transfers and 15 minutes) to an actual admissions counselor–a person whom I know and spoke to on one of my 4 tours/info sessions (I live 5 min from Emory). So though I know you are not meaning your comment as a dis, I’d still be uber-surprised if we found out our status before the 15th. Good luck to you!

Ps, Rodney, I do agree with you though that opus does kinda suck…not to be cynical, but as one poster mentioned, opus is–to paraphrase–a double edged sword, i.e. like your best friend and also your worst enemy right now! Anyway not to sound all hippee but I am sending out good vibes to all applying ED1. See ya on campus this fall, I hope!

I called the Admissions office an hour ago. For the scholars req that oddly appeared on OPUS, they said to attach a note saying that they should use one of our teacher reqs that we provided when we applied ED…also I said “any chance of decisions coming out this weekend?” and she said “no, the 15th.”

…

I don’t want to do anything this weekend except sit around checking my e-mail.

Has anybody received an e-mail from Emory or know what time we are supposed to get our admission decision?

Is it a sign if I didn’t get any e-mails since Nov. 30th? Rejection? So scared. Not shocked or anything, but just scared.

Gooboo as of now it’s Wednesday - noone knows what time.

nocrackup, it doesn’t mean anything. Those may just be random…Don’t worry.

Counting this post I have 54/207 posts :D

Yeah…I want to go to Emory.

I think we all really want to.

@nocrackup: I haven’t received anything since the 23rd.

Is anyone staying up tonight? Just for kick…I think I am.
