Emory Investment Banking/Consulting

I'm not sure if anyone has posted a question similar to this before (if they have the link to the answers would be great). But I would love to know if Emory is highly recruited by any of the big banks for Investment Banking such as Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan, UBS etc. And if any of the big consulting firms such as BCG or Accenture, or Booz Alllen come to recruit at Emory for undergraduate students. And how well do Emory students fare off with internships and full time job placement.

I know that was a lot, but I really appreciate any help and advice.

thank you

I assume you’re serious about this post … and if you do a SEARCH (if you want, you can even search using my User Name (NorCalDad), you will find some relevant posts on this subject.

As you may know, since last fall, investment banking has taken a huge hit. Revenue decline has been preciptious (30% or more easily) for even the largest and most stable of the investment banking firm. The last two major bulge-bracket investment banking firms (Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley) have now converted to traditional banking firms, and JP Morgan and UBS are universal banking institutions. The landscape is vastly different from what it was even last summer, when some current seniors were interning at some of these firms. Some seniors (at Emory, as well as elsewhere) have seen their promised jobs upon graduation vaporize in light of the economic realities. I suppose it could be worse – I’m thinking of the thousands of workers at Bear Stearns (major investment banking, securities and brokerage firm) who lost their jobs just a year ago. Tough reality for an erstwhile 85-year old firm.

As a result, hiring (and thus recruiting) for many firms, whether in IB or consulting/professional services, has gone down. Times have changed, and we can only hope for the best. At Emory, the recruiting for these firms have typically gone through the B-school. BBA graduates have been recruited by any number of firms. Poke around at this website (especially under “Facts and Figures > Placement Statistics”): [Goizueta Business School - Recruit at Goizueta](http://www.goizueta.emory.edu/careermanagement/recruit/bba_overview.html)

Other notables for consulting that recruit from the b-school are Bain and A.T Kearney. I also know of at least one college student from class of 08 who received a job at BCG.

Granted, the stats for class of 09 will most likely look very different, but if you do well here then you have a good shot at the top firms (in my opinion).
