My D is a singer and was asked to send a video or upload one to YouTube. She applied RD. Not sure what this means except that the admissions office obviously read through her entire application. Hopefully this is a positive sign.
@GoingWest I’m curious too. Can’t definitely say it’s a good sign, but I’ve asked around and couldn’t find anyone who was asked and got denied. Good luck to both of us!
Anyone know the date that regular comes out? I know its far in advance but any input would be great
Emory website says it is 4/1/2018. But, most of them release a few days earlier.
If we musicians get asked to submit a recording, should we? What if we aren’t sure if we want to be a part of the music program there?
Please chance me for Emory and Oxford, thanks!

General Comments:
I am pretty sure my recs are good, but I think a teacher marked me down for mediocore for maturity and creativity lolol.
@JessBeingNI ACT is low for an Asian applicant, so being URM isn’t to your advantage here. That maturity comment your teacher made might also bite you because colleges are looking for matured students ready for a rigorous college experience. But, you’re also a recruited athlete so really you should have no problem getting in if they really want you here.
The matuirty issue was on the college app rankings, but in her recommendation she did note that I increased in maturity. I think there’s another teacher who has already written a better recommendation - is it too late that I send that in right now? I currently have two recommendations.

Has anyone received RD acceptance and/or scholarship invites? Some did.
@collegedream871 I don’t believe it’s binding. If you have a good recording, you should. if it’s not, I wouldn’t.
@caleegalee The invites for Emory Scholar results are already out since yesterday
Does anybody know historically how many of those who received scholarships invitations to the Scholars Weekend - will actually get the scholarship?
@doglover760 @caleegalee last year my son got his RD acceptance on March 23d
@caleegalee My D did not get Emory Scholars ( rejection email) but did get admitted yesterday as a RD applicant to Emory. That was a surprise and was included in the same email that told her she was not a finalist for Emory Scholars.
Ah… So, it’s those who applied for the scholarship? - they either get the scholarship, don’t get the scholarship but get in, or don’t get the scholarship and get deferred?
@caleegalee
Basically.
"Ah... So, it's those who applied for the scholarship? - they either get the scholarship, don't get the scholarship but get in, or don't get the scholarship and get deferred?"
I don’t think so. They may have gotten their list for Scholars down to 150 or some number that were ranked and thought it would be good for many reasons to give those who came close a nice little bump. I doubt this eliminates all who checked the box.
@ljberkow I meant just wait for RD by “deferred”
I guess I"m asking if this is only for those who applied for the scholarship…
Yes, I think if you didn’t check the box, then your application is still in process. If you did check the Scholars box and didn’t get selected, you are probably also still in process. All anyone can do here is guess.
